Hi, I'm Maryanne, from Oakland CA.
Well, it seems that all my life I have been calling on the spirits all around me to help me and guide me in all things. I follow an eclectic path, I have been trained in shamanic work for healing and divination, and also I have studied herbal healing on my own very intensively. I have, and still do, use spell work when appropriate, and also crystals and stones for healing, and I do love runes and use Thorsson as a source for interpretation; its a powerful tradition and I am always a student and this applies of course to all things! I find the tarot very helpful also, and I have several decks, but damn if the only one that really speaks to me is the Tarot of Baseball. Every time I pick up that deck it is a channel, and no other truly is. Funny! I'm such a baseball fan that makes sense I guess! I also work with the Russian Gypsy Cards; that is a very powerful fortunetelling deck for me; its almost worn out from use. It seems though that I am simply seeing many faces of the the Source (the god, the goddess, animal spirits, faeries, other helping guides) no matter the manner in which I choose to communicate. The Universe steps up to the plate and answers (ok I am a baseball nut!)
Our wise woman path is such a comfort to me as I am very ill myself with lupus. I help myself, ask for help from my shamanic healing-mates, and help those around me as I can. My life and my knowledge are very solitary in actuality (it is even very physically difficult for me to go to my shamanic circle so they end up just drumming and having their helpers work for me) so the company of like minded folk is welcome.
I was an avid reader of the Pagan Hearth Recipes site and I hope I can be well enough to be more active here; it will do my heart good to speak to those who accept and understand where my path continues to take me. What a wonderful site! Looking forward to meeting you.
