I followed her into the night, feeling the sand cool upon barefeet.
the moon shone upon the water, the night free from heat.
I hid as she looked back, a frown upon her face.
Steadily she walked, not leaving a trace.
Whispers could be heard, so quiet was the night.
Stars dotted the sky, only fireflies in flight.
She stopped before the willows, raising hands to the sky.
asking for the powers of the ancients from days gone by.
" Come out from the shadows, I know that you are there."
So I advanced upon her slowly and with infinite care.
She took my hands in hers and twirled us both around.
Then as we fell giggling, we sat upon the ground.
I told her of my confusion, in life I know not what to do.
She replied softly. " Just be the real you."
I thought about what she said and then we talked some more.
The dawn was softly rising, the water lapped the shore.
A slight mist rose from the ground, it looked like fairy land.
then as she laughed softly, she touched me with her hand
Instantly I fell asleep, upon the softened ground
When I awoke from sleep, she was no where around
Many years after, I still knew not her name.
I only know that after that, I was not the same.
I knew that night was magic, it changed my life I know.
But I still keep magic in my heart and every where I go.
Listen to the music deep within your heart.
Keep faith in your self and give life a start.

thank you. I did enter one and I have the book with my poem in it but I had to pay for the book. I didn't win anything except being published in the book. lol.

That was absolutely beautiful!! Ive written a little but its always morbid. Very heavy and very deep! I seem to only write when Im in a depressed or dark state. Its unfortunate, Ive been extremely happy this past year and havent got much writing done at all.(lol) I also think its wonderfull that you have your poem in a book. What a great accomplishment. please share more...
