I and my Love are hoping to plan A VERY Traditional Handfasting Ceremony, in the woods by Full moonlight (and candle), many in attendance. I already know what gown I will make and be barefoot, but have been TRYING to find appropriate garb for the Groom, and just can't seem to do it. This is not a tux thing, and will be done somewhere in Texas state park, in a deserted area. (police are already invited so no surprises later, LOL!) Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks and BB,
Hope

Hi Hope,

What "Tradition" are you speaking of? Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Correllian, Christian, Catholic??????

A marriage is between two people....it is up to the two people invloved how they would like it performed...there are no steadfast rules as to what the bride and groom should wear...it is your choice...perhaps by communicating with your partner and seeing what he desires to wear to compliment the ceremony you are planning would be an idea...

My husband and I got handfast in a city park with candles, a public ritual and ceremony we wrote entirely ourselves... Under a full moon in Leo on Lammas....and we both wore jeans...very comfortable for all involved....

We later (4 years) got legally "married" at the county court house (again in jeans) to appease the parental units...and had a pot luck where everyone brought something to a bbq we had at the house and it was a blast....so you see there is no end to the imagination when it comes to something like this....enjoy this time....and try to not to make it too hard on yourself...

Let us know what tradition or theme you are using and we can assist you further...

Congrats on your date being set...it's always a wonderful time in anyone's life..

Well, I can tell you what the Correllian garb for a groom is. It is whatever the couple wants!! Talk it over with your love, tell him what you will be wearing, and see what he would be comfortable with, that will complement yours.

If you are having a "Themed" Handfasting, garb for both the bride and groom should fit that theme. Going Ren? Then tunics, trews, long gowns, etc. Going Hippie? Then jeans and tie-dye shirts, or maybe even hemp clothes. Going Nature? Again, jeans and tie-dye, with lots of flowers and other fun things.

It is up to you. It is your day. Work with your love to find what will be right for both of you. And don't worry about what the guests might think, or wear. And enjoy your life together.

If you do end up going with a medieval/ren/fantasy type of theme, let me know, I've got a ton of websites with that kind of stuff as well.

Merry Met to All
Please give me some idears for a wedding. We plan to get married under a full moon if all goes well or
a new moon. It is the words for the ritual that my mind seems to be blocked.  We want dragon flys and crytalls all around us. In my head I can see the yard filled with hundres of tiny white lights and little fire flys.
May each of your days be filled with joy

Hi wolfwomen,

Welcome to the group and the castle! First off, congrats on your wedding....what time of year did you intend on having your ceremony? What tradition to you intend to follow? Are there going to be Christians there? Have you thought about looking into our BOS (Book of Shadows on the site here), you can find it on the Sidebar....also, as for the words, sit down with yotu partner and discuss things...see what they would like to do as well.

It would help us if we knew a bit more about the sitution, what types of people are going to be there, the tradition and so forth....

I do like the white lights and dragonfly theme.....as for full or new moon....do some research to see what the Moon is going to be in Sign wise to assist you too. The Moon when getting married is much more than "full" or "new"....

Best wishes, and I hope we can assist you more, we just need more info...
