Good day all! This is my first time posting, I hope I have put my question in the right place.
I am looking for ANY and ALL suggestions on how to stop a sugar addiction, which has gotten so bad that when I try to get the sugary foods out of my diet, I get headaches and really really cranky. And also for any natural appetite suppressants for a slightly overactive appetite.
(Just so you know, I do cardio exercise, yoga and drink lots of water, but I still suffer from the above 2 problems. Especially the sugar addiction.)
Thanks very much in advance!!

Hi Faerierose.

Have the same sugar addiction problem myself. Into my second week of not having any. The headaches are hell, so I understand where you are coming from. However, for me personally the only way to cut it out is to go cold turkey. The first two days were euphoric, the third day, bam the headaches hit, the irritibility, and the lack of patience.

As I said on second week now and the symptoms are easing. The cravings are not. However, it is being helped by having a chest infection....although this is not something I would recommended lol.

I am also trying to eat more fruit in place of the usual suspects.

They do say it takes four to six weeks for your taste buds to be retrained. This is probably true. I did this a couple of months ago and realised that after going four weeks without any of my usual sugar hits when I actually ate them they were way to sweet and I wasn't keen.

The other thing I make sure of is that I have nothing in the house tht could be tempting. Harder at work as I sit not ten feet away from an always fully stocked tuck shop!

As for the appetite, nowt wrong with having an active appetite, just eat small portions of all the "good" things. They do say that it is better to eat little and often. Three meals a day doesn't always suit everyone.

Again its a personal thing, but I eat breakfast about 7.30-8.00 (depending on when i get into work), a snack (fruit/dried fruit/nuts) about 10/10.30, lunch is generally 12-1 and I try to make whatever I eat last for an hour, a snack again about 3/3.30 and then by the time I get home (about 6.30) I am not so hungry for a large evening meal. I also have a cup of hot chocolate with soya milk around 9.00 which gets rid of any cravings at that point.

You could try, if your schedule allows, playing around with the times you eat, how often you eat etc.

I've tried nearly every appetite supression on the market (UK) both natural and not so natural, and have found that they just don't seem to work for me. Although i know they work for others.

Love & Light
Rowan
