Capricorn: I USE and I SERVE
Third Decan Influence: SELF-SACRIFICE
January 10th - January 19th
Duty, thoughtfulness and faithfulness naturally call for SELF-SACRIFICE. Any time you do something for someone else, you are sacrificing a part of your time or money (remember the two are synonymous). The dictionary meaning of the word "Sacrifice" shows that it comes from the Latin words "Sacer" - sacred, and "Facere" - to make. Thus Self-Sacrifice means to make sacred. When you do your duty with thoughtfulness and faithfulness, you will be performing self-sacrifice (making yourself sacred through the giving of your time or money) as given in the first definition in the dictionary: (1) an offering of the life of a person in homage to a deity.
THE MESSAGE OF CAPRICORN: "The serving of Humanity is the Service of the Gods."
Our benevolent Celestial Parents seek to see their children serving and assisting one another as they struggle for growth, maturity and Wisdom. An old scripture says "Those who love can do no more, than to help those behind, as they have been helped by those who have gone before." The main way in which we can show our love for the Father, Mother, and Elder Children is through expressing our love for Their children here on earth. This love MUST be expressed by ACTIONS, not by mere philosophical ideas.
Words are ACTIONS - tell those you love that you love them. You can't do it too often. Then make the rest of your actions tell the same story. After all, if you do not love your brothers and sisters, whom you have seen, how can you say that you love our Celestial Parents, whom you have not seen? Again, the Gods already have everything. There is nothing else YOU can give Them but your SERVICE.
Why do we need to show Them our love? The lesson of life is to learn to love. Expressing this love becomes a sacred duty in service to the Gods. Those who are full of tension/hate, haven't learned this.
Those who are full of relaxed emotions and love become sacred by reflecting this love and it's accompanying spiritual energy. Finding ways to express this love in deeds are the best examples of this loving energy at work.

What is a Decan? Each astrological sign is approximately 30 degrees in width and is divided into three 10-day portions called decans. Each decan is assigned a Word that further defines the sign and the influences we ALL feel during that 10-day portion of the astrological month.
Why study the influence? We were born with a certain set of strengths to assimilate and a certain set of weaknesses to overcome which can be found in ourselves due to in the influences of the zodiac. This is the curriculum of this lifetime. In order to become proficient in our magical practice we need to progress spiritually toward the Perfected state of our Spiritual Parents, the Creators, until we grow into Their image and become magical creators in our own right!
Study help: To help us acquire the strengths of each sign we are urged to meditate upon the meaning of the current decan, to find words of wisdom and quotable quotes to post where they are frequently seen, and share these with your brothers and sisters to help us ALL understand how we can use these strengths to improve our own character.

People sometimes have a misconception of sacrifice. This is a strong word for Indian people. On the other side of sacrifice is another whole world. During sacrifice, our beliefs are tested. We may all have good beliefs but if you test a good belief, then you get real beliefs. Real beliefs make new people; real beliefs make new self images. Real beliefs allow determination and desires and faith to come true. Good is always available to us but we often can't bring it within until we let go of the old ways. We let go of the old ways by suffering. Suffering is only letting go of things that don't work anymore. On the other side of suffering is a new world.

LOVE IS THE LESSON OF LIFE

Dear sisters and brothers, I wish to share with you my humble philosophy, which is based on love. We know that there are two types of love: human love and Love Divine.
In human love, what we actually try to do is to possess the many without caring for the One, the Source. But if we do not possess the Source, then the many cannot be of any help to us. If there is no root, then how will the tree grow? How will we be able to claim the branches or the flowers and leaves as our very own?
With the divine Love, we go first to the One, the Source, and from there we go to the many. We become one with the root, and then we grow into the tree, which will manifest itself through the branches and leaves, the flowers and fruits. Divine Love is the song of multiplicity in unity.
In human love there is demand or, at least, expectation. Very often we start with demand, and when a higher wisdom dawns we no longer demand, but still we expect something from others. We convince ourselves that this expectation is justified. Since we have done something for others - offered our love - we feel it is quite legitimate to expect something in return.
But in divine Love there is no such thing as demand or expectation. In divine Love we just give what we have and what we are. What we have and what we are is dedicated service. In the human life, before we give our love, we try to discover love in others - that is, their love for us. In the divine Life, before we give our love to others, we try to discover Love in its reality and integrality within ourselves. Only then are we in a position to offer love to others. At first our satisfaction dawns when we feel that those to whom we offer our love accept it wholeheartedly. But there is an even higher form of divine Love when we go beyond this feeling, and give love just for the sake of self giving. We give, and even if our love is not accepted, we do not mind. We shall go on giving, for we are all love, our Source is Love.
