I would keep a close watch on your dog. Train her to stay away from the chickens. its the hunting instinked that is making her nuts. Dog i know lol

I think you also have to make sure there are small pebbles or stones for the chickens to use to digest. Best places to go for info is actuall local feed store. Just ask the people there they will gladly help new chicken parents Very Happy

Bantams for sure! I have some like that and mine are part Vorwerk.

The gravel will help them digest there food. They eat it and it goes in their gullet where the food is ground up after they eat it...

I wont get a rooster again, I loved ours but he was ruthless to the hens, he would pull there feathers off (as he was doing his thing (evil1) ) so the pore lady's looked awful..

We are down to 3 old lady's now, that are to old to lay, but we still love em..

We will get more chicks in the spring. After having to buy eggs for the first time in years (they where pitiful) I quickly changed my mind about not having chickens anymore..

If they are young chickens there eggs will be smaller. But they get bigger...

I've had chickens for a very long time (30 yrs)
Those do look like Banties. The eggs won't get much bigger than a medium size. Roosters aren't necessary unless your want to hatch eggs. There is no easy way for the novice to tell, if your hatched baby chicks are roosters or not. It's much easier to get new sexed chicks at a feed store and put the babies under a broody hen. The broody hen will become the surrogate mother.
