Basil And Migraines
[Note: by Lisa K. Pinter ]
Would you be interested in an herb that helps reduce restlessness and migraines?...One that aids in promoting more milk in nursing mothers?...Or, how about one used for gargling to fight candida or yeast infections of the mouth and throat?...Maybe even an herb that can serve as an eyewash or internal tea? This "miracle" herb that sounds almost too good to be true is: Basil!
If you can, start with fresh basil leaves and unground seeds when
making this tea. Bring 2 pints of water to a boil and add 15 seeds.
Cover, reduce heat, and slowly simmer for about 45 minutes.
Remove from heat and add 1-1/2 handfuls of fresh or half-dried basil and steep for another 25 minutes. Drink or gargle with this tea, as needed, with an average of about 2 cups per day. (When using for an eyebath, the strained tea can be lukewarm.)
If ground basil is all that is available in your area, it can be used
for all of the above problems EXCEPT as an eyewash! Just bring 3-1/2 cups of water to a boil and remove from heat. Add 1-1/4 level teaspoons of ground basil, cover and steep for an hour. Sweeten with a touch of pure maple syrup and drink on the average of 1 cup twice daily.
Goodnight -- sweet dreams!
