I get some pretty wild emails, and have seen some doosies over the years...here is one I recieved this morning....

hi, I'm not sure quite how to ask this, so I will put it bluntly, I live in West
Monroe and was curious to know if you or anyone you know is able to work with physical alteration, this may be an odd request, but I would like to know if there is a way to grow a foxes tail, or a way to just be a full fox, thanks for taking the time to read my request, my email address is ____________ thanks

Well, I suppose he/she could have a fox tail surgically attached. As for turning into a fox, that would require a level of genetic alteration that I do not know exists. I have no clue as to the magical possibilities, but I would love to hear how it turns out (if you can still type, that is). But I would advise first seeing a psychiatrist.

Now turning into a cat, that is sooooo easy! A little catnip here and there, a little moonlight dancing and presto! You are now a Cat and that tail will be growing in no time!

(And for those of you...who would write an email like that up there and are not getting that what I just wrote was a joke, please consult your parents with that very same question and give away your entire HP collection to charity.)

It can be done with cosmetic surgery. A few years ago a woman made the news by paying unscrupulous cosmetic surgeons a lot of money to make her look like a cat. However, there are some things you might consider. First, your trailer-park manager may frown upon wildlife in his domain, unless it's being raised for food. Also, stealing your neighbor's chickens in the middle of the night might not go over too well. Lastly, don't folks in your neck of the swamp take great pride and pleasure in cutting the tails off small furry critters so they can hang them from their car antennas? Just a few things to consider.

ME: Um, what you asking cannot happen.

THEM: just wondering, do you mean as in magic is unable to do that?, or is it against rules?

ME: Think realistically. Pagansim is not Charmed, or Practical Magic. We cannot turn ourselves into animals. We don't wiggle our noses and stir our coffee without holding a spoon.
We are intelligent, caring, compassionate individuals who are proud to be who we are...human. We work with the phases of the moon and the seasons to make our lives more healthy, beneficial to ourselves and the planet. You will find more witches working in soup kitchens and picking up trash around this dirty city than you will in a dark room conjuring up fox tails.
Spells are prayers with tools. That's all. We don't levitate, send people to different dimensions, or any of that crap.

THEM: Its hard to know what parts are true, ive been tryin to find a way to grow a tail or be a fox for over 3 years, a guy i found in a yahoo group said it was possible, just most saw it as dark, is there any possible method i could use to be a fox, hopefully a permanent one,



My Reply:That guy was full of shit dear. You cannot be a fox. You were born human. You willnever be a fox. You will never grow fur all over your body, You will never have a tail. Now....if you were to make a costume....if you believe that "person" who told you that, you are a fool.

sorry if i came across as rude in my last reply, the thing is, most likely there is a way out there since no person can know about everything, so i will continue my search, i thank you for taking the time to talk with me though

Please remember that I receive about 2-3 of these a week.....

My point in posting the original question is this:

Please remember that the person stated they had been trying to grow a tail or turn into a fox for over 3 years. This is a dillusional person...and whether young or old, has some serious issues. It is always best to face this type of situation head on, for your own safety. What if you gave them an idea to perform a "vision quest" and the person died because they didn't take a prescription medicine they may need or some other such event. YOU would be held liable. not pretty.....

If you should give this person an idea on how to perform such a thing (even if ir was possible) the karmic effects and backlash would be astounding and maybe even risk death of the inquirer.

ALWAYS be forthright and stick to the mundane facts until you know more.

Legalities in a situation like this are paramount. Don't go speaking anything about any magickal practice untill you are SURE the person is emotionally capable ...and stable.

And no, I can't help you grow a fox tail.

I know this is off the wall, but ya know, I'm quite sure you have completely shattered the poor soul who wrote this email!

Actually, the person has blocked him/herself from the site (You can read it in their reply, above). So they will never see the replies posted here. I placed this as something of a lesson in learning how to deal with these folks effectively.

Everyone wil have a person ask something like this of them...it happens to all who follow this path.

When you realize that the person is actually disturbed, there is nothing you can do but be firm, and stand your ground.

Sometimes the person is doing it as a hoax, sometimes not. In the end, we have a responsibility to not pass on information that will damage another, or ourselves. In saying that, I also wouldlike to point out, if they read something and interpret another way, it can be a very disasterous situation. Diffusing the situation is always best.

Well with that said LE. I'm sorry, actually not, for saying what I did, because even if one is disturbed, and they are totally serious, and responses like these come streaming at them, we are the one's who sound mean and hate filled.

I know how they came across to me, and I didn't post it! lol (shielding seems to off kilter of late, and some posts hit me alot harder than others, depending on the state of mind and heart of the poster, which is why I've stayed out of threads of late.)

This is why I usually keep my mouth shut, because then I feel like I am the one being 'attacked' for simply voicing my thoughts, feelings and opinions!

Do you suppose they were talking about shape shifting? I don't think it's possible, but maybe they do.

I thank LE for for posting the question as a lesson for us all. I don't know that our initial response was the best for the individual (and I do feel myself guilty for that), and perhaps we should have been a bit more nurturing instead of ostracizing.

But, I think the "trying to grow a fox tail for the past 3 years" to be telling of the individual's psychological state. I 'm glad you posted that because I can understand the desire to shape shift, but I can't think of any sane reason for a human to physically manifest the tail of another animal.

I hope this person finds some help and that they were not permanently hurt by our remarks.
