Hi,
This message is for Lady Elaine. I have your Kitchen Grimoire set and it's AWESOME!!! I have a couple of questions though. I want to make the face scrub for oily skin and need to know if the essential oils you list in it are really strong smelling? And if they are necessary for it to work for oily skin? I can't do odors anymore. I've had to switch to everything unscented, shampoo, soap, deodorant, laundry soap and softener, cleaners etc. I would like to know the same thing about the soapwort herbal shampoo recipe. I don't know what soapwort smells like but the other ingredients I can handle. If you have any other ideas also I am willing to try anything Smile My face gets acne and the only thing that seems to tone it down is using hydrogen peroxide and alcohol as a toner. I haven't really found anything that works to cleanse my face. I am told all the time I need moisturizer so my skin will balance out but if I use it I break out more.
Thanks!

Hi Hecateschylde,

I am delighted you are njoying the Grimoires! As for the Facial scrub, you canleave the essential oils out of the recipe if you desire.

Sea Salt 1/8 cup
Oatmeal (the kind you get in the grocery store is fine) 1/2 cup
Unscented Shower & Bath Gel 2 oz.

You don't have to add these, if you don't desire it:
Bergamot essential oil 10 drops
Lemon essential oil 15 drops
Ylang Ylang essential oil 5 drops

This is a gentle facial scrub that I mixed especially for oily skin although it would work fine for any skin type. The scent is a nice pick-me-up in the morning too. It made my skin smooth and soft so I decided to use it as a body I'll admit, as a body scrub its a little messy, but if you rinse well you won't walk out of the shower with oatmeal behind your ears like I did. Other essential oils can be substituted in this mix for other skin types or scents.

To make the Facial Scrub mix all Ingredients in a nonbreakable container, you will want to cut up your Oatmeal first in a blender or something of that nature so the pieces are not so big. If you need more of an exfolliant effect add some Whole Poppy Seeds.

I would speak to your dermatologist or docotr about your sensitivities. Possibly they can assist you further....it is hard to help you when I don't know everything about you Very Happy .

Please be careful and take it easy on yourself....I know that the oatmeal should be fine...and easy on your face and body...you might even want to mix it with some dried milk flakes....to help moisturize your skin...

As for shampoo, I would stick to the unscented brands you are using now...and if you have a health food store close to you, look for possible organic shampoos and see if they have soapwort there that you can smell and see....alot of folks do not have ab aversion to it, but with your sensitivity, I hate to say it is ok...it may not be for you...

Blessings Bright and Dark,

Sorry I couldn't be more help...
