Hello Everyone,

As you know I recieve literally 100-200 emails a day from members and other folks just desiring assistance. Along those lines, I offer the following email:

Hi Lady Elaine

I went out for lunch today and this worker at the restaurant asked me if I was wearing a pentagram.

I said yes.

She asked me... she asked me if I was a "Devil Worshiper".

I laughed and said, "No. Isn't that a silly question?"

I picked up my table number and looked up to see her reaching over the counter, hissing and spitting (literally) and making her fingers into the sign of a cross.

I laughed louder and went to sit down, because I thought she was trying to be funny, and then I thought about it.

She was pacing behind this glass and looking at me. Then she left, came back in, left, came back into the restaurant, each time slamming the door. I realized then that she may not have been trying to make a joke.

I know the owner and I asked him to come to the table. I told him what happened and he got really nervous, then saying that "she was probably very serious" and "we're walking on eggshells with her around, she causes allot of problems." He thanked me for telling him and said he would do something about it.

I feel a little strange since she is also the delivery person and knows where I live.

I cannot get her twisted up face hissing and spitting out of my head.

What should I do?

Ok, all.....what are your opinions and ideas? Take into consideration that this happened in the deep South. What would be the rammifications of the actions you suggest?

Personally I would just do my best to forget about it. The owner of the restaurant said he'd take care of it. If I was really worried I'd boost the protection around me and my home.

I agree with boosting personal protection but I would also include more mundane things to make sure that she/he stays safe. Make sure locks are locked..personal property is secure..etc. If the person has pets make sure that they are not allowed to wander around without supervision. If they are young pets train them to not take food from anyone except you and/or someone else in the family. (This helps prevent poisoning issues). Sadly, people do and will take issues out on pets, so making sure that they are not running around when someone is not watching them is important.

If you find that the woman is making threats to you or coming around your property when she does not need to be there, notify the police.

As of right now, I would do the protection things and I would let the owner handle it. I would keep in contact with him and find out what exactly he is doing and when he has done it.
Keep records of any conversations or contact with this woman. Just incase something goes wrong and you have to bring this to the authorities attention. Records help them greatly.

I want to say I'm sorry that you had to go through this in this day and age. But, people are ignorant and sadly in the south a lot of people like to quote one thing and live another. (Happens in the north also..I don't mean to discriminate. But I have found more problems of this in the south).
As easy as it would be to get into an argument with her over her beliefs and her beliefs teachings..it isn't worth it. People will see her for what she is (in this case; rude, ignorant and immature, possibly a bit imbalanced also) and any argument could lead to an altercation. Which of course will do no one any good.

Good luck dealing with this. Through your maturity in handling this situation you will help yourself out in the long run. People will compare the two of you and realize that while you may be Pagan, your not out to fight with others or act like a child in public.

The owner of the restaurant should show some responsibility toward his establishment and have a have a short, very sincere talk with his employee. The pathetic creature probably doesn't know any better, and having someone explain the error of her ways might be the only way she's going to grow out of it. On the other hand, if she is an ongoing problem, this would be a good opportunity to swing the ax (provided he can find a replacement). In any case, I would avoid the restaurant long enough for events to run their course and the waitress be fired. I would do a protection spell for my home, then forget about it.

Blessings.

I agree with you Monk. I have to say if I was an employer and one of my employees treated customers like that they would be gone before they ever knew what was going on.
And the spitting part just really grosses me out. Spitting is nasty as it is, but in a restaurant?!!
An employee should definitly know better. And if they don't, their boss sure as hell should. And any place I have ever worked at a person doing that to customers would have been fired on the spot. Whether it was meant as a joke or not.

the best advice i can give is try put her to the back of your mind. I would say forget her, but at the same token, there is something to be said for vigiliance (sp?). If you order from that restraunt for delivery, ask specifically not to have her deliver.

If you notice she goes out of her way again to make a fuss over you, i would hate to say this, but maybe it would be time to stop being a patron of that restruant.

hopefully by now , she has found something else to get her panties in a bunch over, but its hard to tell, specifically with seemingly unstable behaviour

Sounds so familiar. At least here in the bible belt. Religious freedom seems to belong only to the majority, especially locally. I don't like the ACLU but have to admit they are right in the new local conflict. Such is life. As always take care of personal/family/pet protection. Find a different place to eat. With such a high level of unsual activity by the person, remain vigilant of personal situations. (Did I say this politically correct?) Not to be correct, freaking nuts abound here!
A good example of why I keep my religion to myself and stay under the radar in my "real world". Already been thru the local "devil worshiper" thing with a close family member once. Not something I want to do again.

All great advice! The protection for sure, and I agree with CM that for it to be turned around into a positive reaction to a negative action is the way to go! As the saying goes turn lemons into lemonade.
I do not wear a pentacle out in public, but my 75 year old grandmother does. You never see her with out that necklace on. And she just blankly stares back at people that gawk. But there has never been a seen like that!
I would put some sort of only those with good intent twist on my protection also.
And when its all done, I would try to forget about the action, I am of the belief the more you think about it the more power you give to it.

CM you sure you weren't raised in the same cotton patch as me?

Welela, would love to meet your grandmother, she sounds a lot like my mother. Although she was not pagan/wiccan she was hell on wheels. Had eyes and tongue that could cut you to bits! Didn't back up and didn't take nothing off of anyone!

Let me try this again, last post did not go thru

CM, thank you for your unsual understanding of southern ways.
Yes, I say Mam', Sir, Please, and Thank you. I also open doors for ladies, and anyone else.

Courtesy is learned at a young age, honor is practiced for life. Maybe one day I will tell you my definition of "redneck". Not a standard one for sure, and never worried about what others think of it, LOL
