Merry Meet all! I've not been on the forum in SUCH a long time. I had made a post a while back about not being able to share my path with anyone, for it is truly a different path. I consider myself to be a Christian Witch. Having been raised Baptist, I thought my family would shudder at the fact of my involvement with magick. I'm happy to announce that after 5 years of seeking and praying (I'm 19 now), I just recently told my mother of my journey. And instead of the condemnation I thought I would receive, my mother was very accepting, proud, and dare i say interested! We sat the entire day going through my almanac, different witchy books I own, and the bible, together. It was one of the greatest moments in my life thus far.

I just wanted to share the word of encouragement with you, as a testament to be strong, and have courage even in the face of fear, and ALWAYS keep hope.

Blessed Be

Laughing How great your mum has accepted your path Charlotte. It is sometimes a very hard thing to let your family know what your beliefs are, when they have some very strong ones of their own. So wonderful when the love of the family can accept all new ideas.

You are very lucky.

That is fantastic Charlotte! I think most will find that every religion has their "wise woman/man" with magickal abilities. Sometimes when we present our "new" identies to family and friends, its all in the presentation.

Most will understand healing equated to prayer. An altar is something that many see on Sunday in their church. Of course ours is adorned a bit differently Smile and we don't just use it on Sunday! Divination, again most religions have the "wise woman/man" who knows all and sees all.

For those who would like to "come out of the broom closet" and are struggling with "I am a witch", think about what we are and what we do. Then present it in a manner that equates to something they will understand from their own religion. Peace, sacred living, harm none, love, God/Goddess, prayer in ritual...it's all there!

"ChristlikeMagick" I like the sound of that. I am not a follower of Christianity anymore, but I certainly ask Jesus to join my circle frequently. He didn't become less of a God when I became Wiccan. He was a great healer and sure knew how to work energy! The Archetype Christ is within all of us. And the great Masters like The Buddha, Mohammed, Jesus, are the Archetypal Christ. Interesting stuff!

Many blessings,
DesertMist

That is an inspiring story. It is a difficult thing for many young people who would like to be known as practitioners to confess to their families. And your perspective as a Christian witch is not so unusual. There are many witches who adopted and intermingled witchcraft with their nascent religion, as it is a means to incorporate a powerful female perspective to a male-dominated practice. Christianity contains an amazing amount of mysticism and magic, though few adherents admit to it. I am glad you have developed a compatable path for yourself and hope that your family continues to be positive and supportive. Very Happy Very Happy

I am so proud and happy for the both of you ! And you are both very blessed to have an open line of communication. I know you will noth grow both spiritually and emotionally from this relationship.

Hopefully it will inspire other people to have the courage to approach their families and share their beliefs.

It is a very inspiring story, as Staceu stated....and I am delighted that you shared it....a great way to begin the day...with some great news!

It is also good to see you, it has been a long time....take a while to look around, alot has been added and some things have changed, but the energy here is marvelous....and we are blessed to have you with us!

Blessings Bright and Dark,

What an inspiring story, thanks for sharing it! And also, what a wonderful testament to OdSS that you can share it here knowing that you path will be respected.

How wonderful that must have been for you! And what strength, to know your own path and know that it is both Christian and Witchcraft, that must have been an interesting journey.

I agree with DesertMist, a path doesn't lose it's strength because you stop walking it. Although I haven't practiced Christianity for nearly 10 years, I still wear my St Christopher if it feels right, and love visiting churches for their peace and sanctuary. Every now and then Jesus appears to me in dreams, and I see this as a lovely (and somewhat multifaith!) blessing Very Happy

May your path continue in joy.

ChristlikeMagick, I love the name I am so happy for you. To have your mother's understanding the fact didn't shut you down at the first mention of the word witch or magick shows her own free soul. I am a Voodist so Christianity still plays a very large part in my belief but my mother is a hardcore Pentecostal so as you can imagine she believes my soul is lost. It's amazing so many claiming to believe in Christ yet they sure are closed minded; their loss really.

I have a good feeling for you and a great opportunity for both you and your mother to grow closer while learning about your path. The way of the pagan truly is a loving way with a greater appreciation for the world around us.
I wish you the best!

Carefully what you ask for...   You might get it.

WOW! I am ChristlikeMagick (it was time for a new name, as I am so much of a new person) I don't remember sharing this story, or receiving all these wonderful replies! I'm so happy that I stumbled on it! My path has changed slightly as I have discovered and added more to my circle of truth, I no longer refer to myself as a "Christian" but am still a follower of Jesus teachings. Anyway! It is interesting that I stumbled upon this post now, when not but a half an hour ago, my mom, my wife (yes, I am a female, in case you were confused ^.^), and I just finished up with my mom's first ritual, followed by a spirit guide meditation. It was great, my path just keeps opening and adding more people to it. I've had to come out of a few closets now, and let me tell you, each time, it's a liberating, and humbling experience!

So thank you once again! And it's good to be back on the forums!

Blessed Be
   Namaste

I am so happy for you.  It is such a freeing feeling when you can finally admit things that had to be kept hidden, a huge load off your mind...and you feel that you can progress much faster when you do.
I know that when I finally told Mr. K that I was a witch (I've been married to him for five years), I took a gigantic leap forward in my enlightenment!

The first time I had an inclination to open the bible I received for first communion was 20 years later as a solitary witch.

IndyHealer (now-called  Wink ), where do you derive the teachings of Jesus that you still follow? I'm interested to know what resources you use.

Congratulations on bringing it all together, sounds like you're having fun watching it grow Smile

Before I read only the bible and occasionally the apocrypha (non-canonical texts). Then I began to explore the Gnostic texts such as, the scrolls from the Nag Hammadi Library. But now I find that I stick to Jesus teachings of love, and I no longer agree with the teaching that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected. I hold a belief that Jesus was married to Mary Madelene. I get my info from loads of different places, tons of researching, and then I look to my soul and spirit guides to tell me truth. If you choose to read the Nag Hammadi texts I recommend you look at them in a lyrical perspective, and not take everything as literal. If you are interested in the modern studies of Jesus, as well as the traditional Gnostic beliefs and need a jumping off point I highly recommend a book called "The Mystical Life of Jesus" by Sylvia Browne. It's an incredibly perspective changing book based on fact, as well as spirit.

Thank you for taking the time to offer direction. My understandings are also a madly cross-referenced hodge podge of stories and information from different perspectives and beliefs, and I hold a few ideas true to your perspective, so I will check out that book by Ms. Sylvia here - thanks again!

Indy(aka charlotte elaine)

it is awesome that you have found so much peace since you first came to the castle, and that you have opened so many of your inner doors and let the breezes of healing flow thru them.

May your life continue to allow you to grow.
