Astrology for the week of July 16, 2007
A while ago, we celebrated the end of the Saturn Neptune Opposition. It was a time when choices were in our face about reality and fantasy. We were being asked to challenge the things in our lives that no longer supported us so that we could make conscious choices about the things that were actually serving us. It was a tough cycle for those of us that wanted to continue to believe in something that had long served its usefulness, yet it was powerful if we took leaps of faith in directions that we weren't quite sure about. Clearly, most of us lived.
This week, thanks to an aspect called the Contra Parallel (I'll speak on those shortly), Saturn and Neptune, the two giants of astrological wonder, are reuniting (albeit briefly) to remind us once again that we have to put away childish, unsupportive dreams and embrace our real dreams, the ones that remind us of our connection to something way bigger. Yep, the beginning of the week is the new time to mature our desires and reestablish our goals. Is it any wonder that July 17th is the day that the world is setting an intention? Many of you have already written me about "Fire the Grid". Here's a link, FiretheGrid.org. It's always fun when an astrological event is tied to something tangible like this. If you don't remember, Saturn and Neptune and feel a little depressing when they're like this but is won't last more than a day or two so remind yourself that it's part of the purging process! Personally, I feel that the world would be a better place if I could just get everything I wanted.
As for the tone of this week, now that Mercury is gracefully moving again you should have a feeling of movement as well (did I fail to mention that the weirdest part of anything Retrograde is when it slows down to a stop? That's when things can feel most tough. Technically, those are called "Stations" and it doesn't matter if it's ready to move forward or backward in order for us to get that edgy, "things are slightly out of whack" feeling to emerge). You do have to be more careful than usual regarding clumsiness, especially now that the Sun is in Leo, because it's so much more embarrassing!
Now back to those words, "Contra-Parallel". Basically, when two planets are at the same altitude or "degree" in space they are called Parallel and compliment each other. Conversely, when two planets are at the same degree but on opposite sides of the Celestial Equator they would be Contra-Parallel and guess what? They both have the same meaning depending on what planets are involved, both are generally benign.
So, Here's to a crazy week of bad drivers, worse customer service, and heavenly friends!

Another beautiful day on the celestial horizon as the Moon in Leo dominates the sky. Today the Moon is touching all the big celestial players, which is always a clue that some important events could occur. The Moon touches Uranus first thing in the morning, which can activate your inner rebel. Thoughts of playing hooky are fine if you don't have responsibilities to attend to, but by the looks of things, you probably do!
Later, the Moon hits Neptune and the fog returns with some past person or event that must be taken care of. Your energy level could take a hit from midmorning until later in the afternoon, when the Moon touches Saturn. That's when you'll start to feel good if you achieved any of your personal goals, and maybe not-so-good if you didn't. Saturn is so demanding!
Tonight, you'll want to reward yourself with an intimate chat -the kind that reminds you that you're not alone in what you see.

The Moon changed signs from the optimism of Leo to the humility of Virgo in the wee hours of the morning. The hope of the Virgo Moon is that now you can lower your head just a bit, and look at any mess you might have made whilst dancing around shamelessly under the Leo Moon.
For those of you who may confuse Virgo with the schoolmarm who never smiles, you're quite mistaken. Virgo is one of the funniest signs of the zodiac with a dry wit that's as fast as it is smart. That particular quality is in you today and you might need it, given that the world may be a little depressed due to something in the news. Of course, I could say that about almost any day, but today does hold a little tension that may permeate your pysche.
The best course of action under a Virgo Moon is to use the Virgo qualities of service and detail management to get through the day. Help a colleague who may need your support, put some extra attention on your animals (Virgo rules small animals), and bring some sort of organization to an area in your life that needs it (I'm sure there is a bill that you've been ignoring). Tomorrow may not hold the clarity you have today, so any extra effort you put into today gives you an edge over tomorrow.

If you find that you are doing criticism to the extreme, then you aren't taking care of yourself. Sure, there are probably many things that you see are out of place in your life, and people are never going to step up to the plate the way that you can, but if you are complaining about it, you have assumed too much responsibility and don't know how to get back to your center.
If I just explained how you feel, then pull in and take some time alone. You'll be fine in a short while. If I just explained your colleague or housemate, then they may be acting out some of your repressed anger, and you need to do just what I said two sentences ago: take some time alone.
Because the Virgo Moon is focused on the details of the physical world, and because the physical world will always need some work, you don't always know when to stop. Today, take some time to get some distance from your environment-it will make the world of difference in how you perceive what is going on.

A Void of Course Moon dominates the morning with its usual suggestion of slowing down and finishing up. You may find that your mind is working hard: reviewing, worrying, and repeating awful songs that you can't get out of your head. It's all part of the change from Virgo to Libra. It's almost as if your mental battery has to burn itself out so that it can be recharged with Libra's balanced perspective.
It certainly looks like a day where actual productivity may have to take a back seat; there are just too may distractions and at least one of them looks pretty important. Let this day guide you to your perfect place, and then stay open for the unexpected.
If you find that you are being asked to prove something to someone, you'll do just fine, so don't ruin your day by worrying. Tonight, get with your pack of like-minded friends and complain. Get it all out! Tomorrow you can send apologies . . . but enough nice-guy stuff for the day.

You'll likely be welcoming back your energy today as the planets are holding steady. The Libra Moon dominates the day and you'll be compelled to dress up, rather than down, due to Libra's love of the beautiful. Friends and colleagues prove more willing to be cooperative (there is always that one exception).
A special connection between Mars and Uranus could prove helpful in giving you that extra dose of energy, but you have to be careful with these two. Mars is aggressive and Uranus is surprising, so accidents are common when they come together, but ONLY when you aren't grounded. This of course does not apply to airplane rides or other commercial forms of transportation where you're not the driver.
The good part of this alignment is that you'll feel free to approach and accomplish anything you put your mind to. You won't have much tolerance for authority-so just leave if things get too intense. Do not express your feelings without screening them.

Most of today should go smoothly under this Libra Moon, but you may notice that stress is singing a subtle song just below the surface of the day. On one hand, you want to feel the carefree nature of this airy Moon, but on the other hand may be constantly presented with reasons to stray from that course.
Remember that Libra's ultimate motive is to be fair and balanced; any disruptions in the day require your attention so that you can bring things into order. It would be in your best interest to address any challenges that you see, the moment you see them. Don't run off to the mall at the first sign of freedom. Instead, look around and make sure all the emotional hatches are secured, and that your duties for the day are completed.
The First Quarter Moon occurs late tonight and early tomorrow for the East Coast, so you should be able to get through most of this day unchallenged.

For most of the day, the Sun will remain in Cancer, and the Moon will be in Scorpio. You'll have one last day of emotional tides before the optimistic and royal sign takes hold. Today is the perfect day for your feelings to come out in full bloom. Allow yourself to review the last thirty days and release any hurt feelings, forgive any unkind acts, and embrace all the kindness that you felt.
