My fiance feels as though he is cursed.  A few weeks ago my fiance quit a horrible job and went to school to learn how to drive a truck.  If he can pass his test he will go to work for Schnieder National, by far one of the best companies to work for.  At school he did the best out of his class.  They gave him an award, made him speak up in front of the class and everything.

Well when he came home and took the test he failed.  The computer picked 3 random things out of 6 or so.   He did everything right except the Parallel parking.  It upset us, we were really planning on him passing the first time and the bills were past due.  But we hung in there.  He went back up to school to train some more.  Found out every one fails the first time.  They make a point of failing you the first time.

So he trained some more and even learned  how to Parallel park the rig.  We thought he had it this time.  He knows what he is doing after all.  But the computer picked parallel parking for him again, no one has ever seen that happen before!  One guy had been there 10 years and never seen some one have to parallel park twice!

He was very careful.  He took his time. Even put on his brake and got out and looked to make sure his set up was right. It was text book perfect.  Some how he still knocked over the cones!  He's failed again. No one can explain how it happened!  He gets one last shot on the 5th,  if he fails a 3rd time he'll be fired AND owe the Schnieder $5000 for the training program!

This is not the first time he has had incredibly bad luck either.  He has to fight  for everything just to have it snatched away by bad luck just when he thinks things are going right.  He believes he is cursed  and that something greater than himself wants him to be unhappy.  The stress of having everything go wrong is killing him.  I don't know how much more bad luck he can take.  We really thought things were going to be different this time!

Does any one know how to reverse such awful luck or lift what ever curse is on him?  We need help in a bad way.  I don't know how to do this on my own but if anyone can help me I'd be forever thankful.  If his luck doesn't change soon I am afraid the stress will break him.  So if any one could give me any advice or help I'd be grateful.  If any one wants more details just ask me and I'll contact you privately but I don't want to put to much more on a public board, we tend to be very private people.  It's just we are in a very tight spot.  Thanks for any help.

I am sorry to hear of your circumstances Indigo.  It is a very stressful thing when things go wrong badly.

Sorry to say, I don't believe in curses.  I believe that you bring to you the things you worry and stress over a lot.  So focusing on the thought of failing etc is bringing back more of the same.  You know the law of attraction.

Your man and yourself have to visualise him signing the back of his licence.  See him passing and being successful.  See him with a great job because of passing the test.  Be grateful for the fact that he has come this far and show gratitude for all he has acvieved to date and be positive about the outcome.

It is a hard thing to do at times to change the train of thought when alot is riding on it.  Even those distant little thoughts that pop up in the back of your mind.  Push them out be see the great things ahead with the passing.

I am sorry I can not be of more help to you.  Possibly someone will give more assistance.  I hope all goes well for you both.

Sorry I meant to add this before I posted.

Possibly your man has some selfesteem issues that come from past issuesas well.  He needs to know that he is good enough, successful and deserving enough to have the position he is aiming for.

Yes, he does have self esteem issues.  I have been trying to work on his self esteem and get him to think positively but his luck does seem extraordinarily bad.  And a lot of his self esteem issues go way back.  He is always apologizing for causing me stress (he doesn't) and for not being good enough even when I tell him all the time that he is.  He refers to himself often as a broken toy.  It breaks my heart but I don't know how to get through to him that he is perfect the way he is.

If you see yourself with bad you you'll have just that bad luck. Add on top of it you seeing him with bad luck and well now he has twice as much bad luck.

We bring into our lives what we have.

Both of you have to change your way of thinking otherwise ya better get a 2nd third and maybe fourth job.

sorry to put it that way, but sometimes we have to have abad slap of reality to help us see past what it is we want to see.

I hope and wish for both of you that you can find a way to change your lines of thinking. He seems like a very capabl person, if he just cna chage this one major thing, his image of not only his self, but his Self as well.

I am sorry Indigo faerie but I have to agree with what was said above.

The more you resist, the more it persists, you see?  Energy travels in circles, it has to come back to you, so if you think (and so project) that you won't do well, then you won't, if you are in any fear, you will draw what you fear.  This is true, I have had numerous years to flounder in that....lol....and I do believe that I am finally getting it!!  It takes practice, faith and trust.  Have you read The Secret?

I do believe that Kath hit the nail on the head with the self esteem issue.  There are many good books out there on raising your self worth, many good meditations and perhaps even some good spells maybe in the book of shadows here....I am not sure as I haven't looked, but you could check it.

Just know that both of you deserve the best...so go for it!!!   Smile

Blessed be you

Hi Indigo Faerie,

All of us have our insecurities and are on the learning curve provided for our advancement.

One of my worthy teachers taught me that when I added a simple three words to the beginning of any new challenge, I could automatically ensure the process.

When everyone around you knows that you think this, they can't resist helping you to do it.

The words are:
"I can't wait to learn.......
As anyone comes to make this a habit, they will shrug off the curse of insecurity and revel in the excitement given upon their birth on this planet. We all started with this ringing soundly through our spirit.
So much magic just around each new corner. Then we fall, get knocked down and around enough to walk through the fog of self doubt,(another needed learning curve),and then we get to rebuild and reclaim ourselves. The smallest love glimmer will shoot us out the other side of despair and defeat.

Remember the universe may have it's reason to hold anyone up a step or two before it says go.
The blessing may have been to keep him off the road for a bit for his own benefit for ???? reasons.

But, remember
"I can't wait to learn to...

Instead of
I can't...

Bright blessings on finding each other and being so there for him.  Very Happy

All wise words above...Indigo.  I really don't know you, but I do believe in the law of attraction, but I also believe in being cursed.  So, without being too wordy, if this was happening to me or my husband (now consider the fact that my hubby knows I'm a witch) I would first and foremost do a cleansing of your home then both of you.  Do a spell to help him concentrate and alleviate the fear of failing his test.  This will put you both in the positive frame of mind.  Because if you have the strong intention that your spell work then it will.  Now, if you don't know how to perform a spell...say a prayer for the release of your fears.

I would perform candle magick because that's what I prefer. Also light a candle, while he is taking his test...sending postive thoughts his way.  Don't think about what will happen if he fails, but think of the relief you will both feel when he passes his test.  Think of the joy that you will feel when he comes home to tell you he passed.  Think of the joy that he will feel when he finds out he aced the test. Don't think about the financial troubles at all...just think of him passing his test...that's what you need to concentate on.

A few things to consider if you are going to do any candle magick...this will be up to you.  Find the right oil (just a little bit of oil goes a long way) to dress (there is a correct way to dress the candle with oil-find out what that is) and the correct candle color.  I could give you the suggestions, but this will help in building your intent. (Taking precaution that you're working with fire.)  Now, some will tell you that we are in the Waning Moon and not to do any magick...however, I believe the Goddess understands the dire need of the situation.  Sometimes, we do what we must.  I wish you both much success and sending you many positive thoughts!   Brightest Blessings dear heart!

I'm with Bear and the others.  I really think that positive thinking is key in this situation!  Henry David Thoreau wrote in "Walden", "What a man thinks of himself, that it is which determines, or rather, indicates, his fate."  However, I've been in a situation similar to yours and did, indeed do some "magical tweaking" which has helped enormously.  (More because the ritual itself put me into a more positive frame of mind than anything else, I would imagine.)  I did a house cleansing, a binding of the situation, and continue to surround myself with protection.  (I believe in protection in spellwork as being the most important element.)  In my case, I knew where (who) the yucky stuff was coming from directly, which did help a bit, but I think that when you direct your energy toward eliminating  negativity in general, you are doing yourself a great service.  When I perform any ritual, I am focusing my mind in the direction I need it to go, which, for me, is a positive step.  Physically putting forth that "magical power", sets the tone for ME to change.  (Therein lies my power...in change).  You don't necessarily need to go to great lengths to do it.  Even giving your house a good smudging, with intent, can make a large difference.

I keep telling him he'll be fine.  But he still worries about it.  I also keep telling him it is impossible that he will be given parallel parking again. (the only thing he has any trouble with.)  I'm just having a hard time getting it through his thick head. The boy insist that he is cursed, but then that is what happens when both parents tell you their side of the family is curse when your growing up.  That combined with the fact he has almost been hit by lightening 3 times and you can see why he thinks he is cursed.

It is probably going to take a long while to convince him that he is not cursed and to get him to think positively.  We just need to get through this test first.  I might well do some magic the night before he is to do his test.  I won't be able to light an candle because I am going with him for emotional support but I will be doing my best to keep him calm and I intend to meditate while he is out with the examiner.

I have also told my little brother who said he'd ask his church to pray for him.  Then I told Ben that Alan's church was going to pray for us and that scientific evidence shows that prayer whether to an deity or just in general does indeed help.  I just hope it's enough.

Consider this, though, Indigo. Perhaps he isn't meant to pass and become a driver because maybe he will be in an accident and the gods are trying to give you a sign this way. Perhaps there is something else he is meant to do. I don't beleive in curses either, but agree that protection spells are a good thing, maybe a cleansing, and read the Secret!
blessings and luck!

Hi indigo-faerie,

You have received very good advice so far. May I suggest you read the Book of Soul in our Book of Shadows? It would you do a wonderful service to you and your responses to your environment and what you need to do to assist you and your husband in your negative-thinking....

Here is an example:

Knowing We Are In Charge Of Our Attitudes

In the face of uncomfortable circumstances, sometimes the only thing we have the power to change is our mind. During times when we feel our of control, we can comfort ourselves by remembering, as the Reverend June Kelly says, "We are the only author of our thoughts - the only thinker in our lives." We are in charge of our attitudes. Since feelings are a direct result of attitudes and thoughts, the ability to change our minds is one of our most precious and useful attributes.

Society encourages us to be what it considers realistic, and there are even semi-derisive descriptions of those people with positive attitudes: cockeyed optimist, Pollyanna, and ivory-idealist to name a few, But why is it cockeyed to be optimistic? Why isn't it a tendency to expect the best possible outcome wise, rather than naive or stupid?

A dedicated realist might answer that we are only setting ourselves up for disappointment when we habitually expect the best; I would respond by saying that a negative or pessimistic attitude, masquerading as realism, ensures us discouragement as we apprehensively wait for the ax to fall.

Ariel graduated from college two years ago and, following a successful internship, went out to find a job. Many realists presented her with grim statistics on the limited market for her skills. At first she felt almost paralyzed with discouragement.

A good talk with her mother helped Ariel realize she needed to change her attitude, focusing instead on how fortunate any company would be to have her as an employee. When pessimism crept in during particularly frustrating periods in her job search, Ariel reassured herself by choosing to remember what she had to give, rather than concentrating on what she feared she had to lose. Although it took awhile, Ariel is now employed full-time in her field.

Knowing we are in charge of our attitudes is one of the most life-enhancing realizations we can come to.

I am an optimist and proud of it.
I choose to expect the best.

If you cant explain it simply, you dont understand it well enough.-- Albert Einstein

Blessings Bright and Dark,

Thank you every one for all the advice.  It'll take a while to get him to think positive.  Hell I keep slipping back into depression and I have been working on my attitude and self esteem for years.  I think when he comes home I am going to try to get him to watch What The Bleep Do We Know? with me.  It really helps to improve my mood and inspire me to think positive.

Maybe once he is out on the road I will get Happiness Is A Choice by Barry Kaufman and loan it to him, I've been wanting to read it myself, Barry Kaufman and his wife are amazing people!  You should read there book Son-Rise.  It is about their son whom they cure of autism all by them selves when the doctors offered no hope or help.  they decided to love him anyway and see only his beauty and light.  They let him be when he wanted to retreat in to his world but always tried to join him and help him interact with ours.  One of my favorite books.

Hi again,

Being hit or buzzed by lightning is a blessing in the Native American Cultures of the Southwest at least. Personal story...I was living on the Acoma Laguna Indian reserve and had just found out I was finally pregnant for the first time. Went up to a mesa top to thank God/dess for this blessing with my husband.  Instant storm blew up...lightening started to pop and sizzle on the rocks all around us...one hit the stone I was standing on...all the hair on my head, arms and maybe toes too, stood up on end and I could taste a tang of electricity in my mouth. So scared, but was later told that the Indians see this as a sign that you/or the child will be a Medicine Man/woman.  I figure it was meant for my daughter though, as everytime she is drawn to go outside in a storm, lightening will strike close enough to tingle her hair, yet has never harmed her.

You may have someone who has alot to give once he understands and accepts that the universe and he already have something to do together. During the same storm an elementary school was hit. The last I heard they interpreted this as a sign that some major event is coming some time within the normal lifespan of these children for which they will be called on for their gifts.

Don't worry, be happy!   Tyche Cool

Well we just got good news.  They are rescheduling his test date and sending him to a 3rd party testing facility, not the DMV.  They don't do that any more so some one really wants him to drive!
