Greetings,

Some time ago while surfing the web I came across a quote about Tarot, I think it was by one of the major occultists of the past centuries, saying that if anyone was stranded on a desert island with nothing but a tarot deck, when returning to civilisation that person would be able to discuss about any of the events that happened in history and be fully knowledgeable.

For some reason, this quote has come back to haunt me now, and I can't remember who said it. Does anyone know?

Ravendust, I've heard of a saying about a person learning all there is to know about life living in jail with a single deck of Tarot cards?

I do remember it was a desert island, but even with the jail the basic idea is still the same. Who said the jail statement?

The quote came from a nineteenth-century French occultist Eliphas Levi (the pen name of Abbé Louis Constant, 1810-1875) he suggested that if a person was left for years on a desert island with nothing but the Tarot, and that person knew how to understand it, when that person returned to civilization he or she could discuss any subject with complete knowledge.

Thank you for your help
