I read this trilogy in the last 10 days and was hooked from the first page of the first book to the last page of the third (I stayed up well after midnight last night to finish it-no kidding!).
If you like the Victorian era (late 1800's), magic, the eternal battle between good and bad, light and darkness, this is for you. It's supposed to be for young adults but I enjoyed this trilogy very much and I'm over 40.
It is very well written and you can picture the scenes as she describes them.
