Do you remember ever playing the game where each person in a group adds a sentence to create a story?  If you don't, it goes like this:  I will begin with a sentence to start the story.  The next person adds a sentence to continue it.  Each person continues, and we get to read an entirely original story unfold in unimagined ways.  So, her it goes:


"Once upon a time, there was a child found upon the door step of the King's blacksmith...

Bundled in a wicker basket, she was found smiling, with big green eyes, and red hair gleaming from underneath her blanket.....

The Blacksmith was startled, looking down upon that angelic face he called to his wife.

"Who could abandon such a sweet looking child?" she asked.

Just then, the child gave a tiny giggle.

They knew in an instant they would raise this lovely wee one as their own, unless......

...the fair folk came and took her back as surely she must be one of their own.

"Who could abandon such a sweet looking child?" she asked.

Just then, the child gave a tiny giggle.  They knew in an instant they would raise this lovely wee one as their own, unless ...the fair folk came and took her back as surely she must be one of their own.  

"Is that a letter in the basket," asked the Blacksmith?

He gentley reached into the basket to remove the piece of paper.

It was sealed with a strange wax, and imprinted in that wax was the symbol of...

They opened the letter and to their surprise the tiny handwriting said,"

"Dearest keepers of the magical child."

It pains me to leave my precious babe in the care of strangers but I have been left with no choice.

My life is nearing an end and this child is my only heir.

I must fight an unimaginably voracious darkness that attacks from within... I can only hope I delivered my daughter before this "disease" afflicted her as well.
