*Realeyez stumbles over the computer in a complete state of lethargy and fatigue and, have-assed, mumbles a thought that made a much more valid point the first time she thought it...*
I think people such as celebrities have sold their souls. To whom? The media. How so? They've given up their chance at breaking associations in order to grow and evolve from that which has defined them. How can you know your true self when you're mostly concerned with the "looking glass self", how we believe others see us, evident by the massive amounts of time and money spent on material items, primping, practicing poses for the camera...for what? Money and material possessions, glamour, fame, etc...
An interviewer asked J-Lo if it's different trying to get ready (hair, make up, etc.) now with a baby. She said no, the baby just sits on my lap.
Brad and Angelina have 3 nannies because, apparently, raising kids is a 24-hr a day job.
Seems to me they may be missing some life lessons being thrown their way. Or maybe they're just not ready for the lessons, or to learn...
Or maybe instead of selling their souls, they've sold the opportunity to refine their souls because they'll most likely never peal away enough layers to get where they can examine themselves as they truly are in a moment, without material possession, out-of-this-world ego massages, shooing away the camera men like gnats in a field - what a bother!, etc.
They are, of course, not the only classification of human to be stuck in this rut. But they're a pretty blatant example.
So I guess if a soul is something that can be refined, then I believe I have a soul. I guess I'd define it off the cuff now as the part of myself that originated from the everything and has the limitations and perameters of my physical being to experience, well, experiences through. That part of me which is "I am", "I exist", before applying perception and bias to the statement ("I am hungry", "I am tired"...oooh, today oh so tired...). "I am". Just like God said lol. That's my soul.
Maybe it's just the host for the gum on the bottom of my flip flop...
Just adding fuel to this fire. This is a half-baked rambling based on my own views of heaven and hell being earthly states of being.
By the way, something ate my father's soul, and it is quite feasible that his body continues to live powered by another energy force that overtook it. So I suppose I might think that everything, or everyone at least, has a soul - it just might not be the one they came into being in this realm with.
