Sleepytime & Lullabyes

Faery Dust for Nighttime Baths

Grind to a powder in mortar and pestle equal amounts of chamomile and lavender.
Add a few whole dried flowers to the powder and bottle up. Use during nighttime baths by sprinkling the magic faery dust over your little ones and into the bath water.

Monster Spray

12 drops chamomile EO
12 drops lavender EO
8 drops orange EO
16oz water

Mix in spray bottle and have a go at any monsters lurking under the bed or in the closet or at work...
Recipe is from "Seasons of Aromatherapy" by Judith Fitzsimmons.

The following should be done cupping hands as if holding a ball of white light. Toss ball in air and imagine it bursting to fill the whole room with protection.

Bright light, White light
Take away my fright
Don't let the darkness scare me,
There's nothing here to fear.
Let me sleep the whole night long,
For I am safe in here
White light, Bright light
Protect me through the night.

Bed Time Chant/Prayer
author unknown

Conjure circle round the bed
Where I lay my weary head.
That in it's gold and silver light,
I will spend a peaceful night.

The Magick (a bedtime chant)
Author unknown

O golden light,
O silver light,
Please, weave your web around me
And protect me through the night.
My day is done, my night begun,
With dreams before me found.
I shall sleep in peace and light,
My protective circle bound.

Bedtime Prayer
author unknown

Now I lay me down to sleep
Through the twilight, and dark so deep
Earth and Water, Fire and Air
Stay with me while Mom's not there
Elements guide me through the night
And leave with thanks at mornings light

Sh, Sh, Sh

Out come the stars
Sh sh sh
Bright shines the moon
Sh sh sh
Sweet sings the nightbird
Sh sh sh
"Go to bed
Sleepyhead"
Sandman said,
"Sh, sh, sh."

Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep, Please help me learn my world to keep. To guard the air and skies of blue, The oceans, lakes, and rivers, too. Save the mighty forest lands, The plains, the shores, and desert sands. Protect all creatures, wild and free, In air, on land, and in the sea. -unknown

Lullabye

Rock-a-bye baby, in the tree top, When the wind blows, your cradle will rock. Birds will serenade you, Stars guard the night. Slumber in peace, 'til morning brings light.

Bedtime Prayer to Keep Nightmares Away
author unknown

Mother Earth and Father Sky
Cradle me here where I lie.
Keep me safe the whole night long
As I rest in your arms so strong.
Mother Earth and Father Sky
Keep me safe here where I lie.

Bedtime Prayer
author unknown

Day is done, it's time for bed
Goddess bless my sleepy head
Earth and Water, Air and Fire
Bring gentle dreams as I retire
When the morning sun does rise
The God will bless my open eyes

Child's Prayer
~Author unknown

Now I lay me down to rest.
I pray that all the world be blessed.
Lady Moon and Sister Star
Watch over me from afar.
Mother Earth is always there
And keeps me safe within her care.
The Lord of Dreams will dance and sing
And happy dreams will to me bring.
And when I wake to greet the day
Brother Sun will light my way.

Prayer to Establish Sacred Space
~Found on an egroup but I believe it is from The Pagan Family by Ceisiwr Serith

Here in the center of the world I stand,
earth is before me,
air on my right hand,
fire is behind me,
on my left water lies,
as I stand here between
the earth and the skies.

Those are nice Indeshadows. I will definitely be copying them and sharing them with my children. Some of them we already know and use but some were new to me.

Monster spray has been used a lot in my house. Although I have not used this recipe before. We alternate lately between my perfume, rose oil water, and lavender oil water. I tell my son (almost 4) that the monsters won't be able to come because they will think I'm still in the room. So they will spend all night hanging out in their own world waiting for me to leave the room and only he and I will know the truth. He loves it and giggles over fooling the bad monsters. lol
Thankfully this is not an every night accurance but since he is the third child, I have learned how to elaborate to the point of silliness. With that smell along with laughs, the 'monsters' don't stand a chance. (And it makes the house smell good..win/win all around).

Wonderful info Indie,

Thank you!!

I love the "Monster Spray" and it could be used for a multitude of reasons in my home alone! lol

The prayers are wonderful as well, if you desire you can place them in the Spellbook on the sidebar, we have a awesome collection of Prayers, and I am sure those would be apprecieated by many folks, adults and children alike!

It's so good to see you, I miss your energies and your delightful perspective on things.

Blessings Bright and Dark,

These are so wonderful, many thanks.
I may need to make some monster spray to take with me for some of the places I have to stay in. LOL

Here's a quick one for Mommy or Daddy to say at bedtime.

O, Gracious Goddess of Day and Night,
Watch over my child(ren) 'til morning's light.
Keep (him/her/them) safe, protected from harm.
Gently cradled in your loving arms.
