I came across this a few weeks ago and pick her up. She may not look like much but I see
a dragon and felt drawn to it. The kids call it Mom's little root dragon.
I was straighting up a few things and Sundown came to mind when I picked her up to dust under her. I thought you would like to see her.
I couldn't bring myself to trim her but I see that she is becoming very dry . I am not sure as how to stop these drying out. Nor just how to preserve her. Any ideas?
ooh... she's got a very regal bearing... very cool. I really don't know much about how to keep her safe and preserved, but she looks aweful neat, so I thought I'd poke my nose in and say so!
hope you find the answers you need

I'm not crazy, it's just that I enjoy talking to the trees and singing to the moon...

Awesome, she is so beautiful! When the wood speaks you listen.
You may have to peel or gently remove the loose bark, some it may come off as she ages. A good natural oil rubbed in will keep her in wonderful shape. Oil may darken her a bit. I use Tru Oil a lot, there are others out there. I will look around and refresh my memory on a couple. You may want to get a couple of sheets of sandpaper, one about 120 grit and another about 150 or 160 grit and gently sand the rough or sharp points and splinters off.
What a lovely find
Sundown
The older I get, the less I know, the happier I am
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea
they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.
Well she's made it clear that by no means am I to trim her nor anything else except seal her it an oil. I sat for hours trying to see what she wanted done and all I kept getting was a nice soak in a wood oil. As soon as I picked a knife to trim her I received a nice cut on my figure. A clear sign she didn't want it. so now she is quickly setting on my altar. I was worried that the cats would want to chew on her like some many other things, but no they don't bother her.
I think the main reason she wants to stay the way she is is because she not a branch but a root. An prefers to set in the darker places on my altar. I haven't found her name yet, but I do know she's very much an earth dragon. She'll tell me when she's good and ready.
Glad to hear all is well with her. Let us know if and when she lets you know her name.
I have a special piece of wood I'm wanting to name, too. He's hinted at a couple of things, but nothing for definite yet....oh, well. We'll keep listening anyway, won't we?
