Me honey and I have been talking recently about our 'wanting to get married' issue we've been dealing with for the past few years.  After a recent rush to the ER (again) it has become clear that my health is steadily going downwards, but I'm still quite strong.

(I ODed on caffeine, I had a LOT of energy drinks, but it brought up issues that weren't related.  I'm fine now, just dealing with my own stupidity and a huge bruise on my arm from the I.V. they used to pump me full of fluid to flush my system.)

I don't have anything lethal in the least, but my body is aging incredibly quickly.   I'll put it to this way, I look young, even for my age, but my body is equal to about a 45 -50 year old woman.  Two types of arthritis, scoliosis (severe), osteoporosis, and in general; bad joints. (There ARE possible other things that we haven't figured out yet.)  We figure my life expectancy will be a bit lower then average, but not by much.

Anyways, while we were in the hospital he looked at me and started crying when he realized this was the first time he took me to the hospital that wasn't related to my overall health.  It scared him.  I asked him if he still wanted to marry-me, knowing that the hospital visits will be regular and that he'll slowly see me fade faster then others.  He kissed me and a tear dropped down his face and told me to pick a date.

We decided to do a simple non-justified handfasting to be performed by my High Priestess, which is something that I would love.  Simple, and between the three of us.  We can get the legal documents ourselves and I can legally change my last name.  We were talking about it and then he said something that surprised me.
"I want a Christian wedding."  I was shocked, and if I could've, I'd have laughed.  "Honey, we're Witches... not just that your a CHAOS magician, you can't be serious."  "I want something huge... plus your friends and my family would be there."

So now I'm thinking "will this work?"  We're still getting handfasted, he wants this on the side.  Legally binding and the last name so it would be a bit easier.  I know I've been posting a lot, but this really has me stunned.  I will do whatever he wants to do, but who in the world would be crazy enough to wed us in a Christian fashion when both of us aren't exactly fans of the religion itself already?

P.S. Don't worry about my health, I take good care of myself (most of the time...) and natural as well as modern medicine are my best friends ^_^

*giggles* Don't you just love when they throw stuff at you.   You pay anyone enough money they'll do it, but I'm sure if you look around you can find someone that's willing to do it. Also you can always tweek the vows to your liking. The person doing the ceramony isn't going to judge you. It's your wedding day. They aren't gong to be stupid and lose their pay over it.  Anyway, just search around and see what you can find. You can always, if the weather is nice, hold the wedding outside. I think your fiance (sp?) just wants to have your friends and family there and the christian wedding was the biggest thing he could think of that would hold everyone.  I'm sure you two will figure something out.  Best of luck!

True enough, I'm still pretty shocked, when I get a chance (tomorrow he's taking me to my friends ranch, so there's a half an hour drive) I'm gonna talk to him a bit more about what he wants to do.  I'm already looking around for things to add and create, as well as figuring out exactly how goes a marriage.  I've only been to one wedding.  It should be fun at the very least.

My high priestess is currently shocked with Chris' proposal.  Her exact works "Wait, Christophe?  The same guy who made himself sicker then a dog trying to heal me?  Also the same guy who is a renowned magickian who doesn't like rules?  HE wants a TRADITIONAL wedding?"  I'm like "..yeah.. so... ready for some fun?"  "Oy, you two never make it easy do ya?" "Not in the least."

She's dealt with all sorts of "misfortunes" dealing with Chris' lil experiments which usually ends up having to call her to banish whatever he managed to invite in the house.  We're gonna have fun though, it'll stress us all out, but like you said, it'll be worth it!

PS. My engagement ring is a single pearl ring setted in a almost ribbon like gold band.  It's my birthstone and it didn't break our budget (in which case I woulda still worn it, but would be a widow before a wife xD)

I had a HUGE non-christian wedding.  I believe you can have the best of both worlds, and I did it.  I'm separated now after many years but people still talk to me about how much fun they had at my wedding and how interesting it was.
It just occurred to me I might be missing a point.... And by all means I am not being intentionally insensitive but..
Do yu guys live where people would not accept a non-christian wedding?
If thats the case then do WHATEVER you need to have fun and love and to make merry!

sorry for being away, me and chris had a bad accident involving very angry horses.  I broke both my wrists and had surgery on my left one.  He broke his right wrist trying to get to me after I got thrown.  Our horses wouldn't stop.  He jumped off his, rolled, picked me up and drove us to the ER.  Fine now, i have one hand to type with.  Wedding chat prosponed 'till we feel better though.

I am so glad that you both are ok, and somehow you are going to figure al this out and figure out just how to go about it.

Even those of us who love chaos love traditionalism as well. Keeps a bit o balance.

w00t, finally came back after a huge hiatus.  Due to the economy going belly-up we had to cancel the handfasting which we were planning on doing this April, and wait 'till one of us has a steady job before doing it again.  Things are looking up though; my health has dramatically gotten better,  and haven't had to go to the hospital in like months.  That's huge considering I've been rushed to the ER at least once or twice a month for nearly 3 years straight.

We've been talking to my parents a bit about it, asking if they'd come to a hand fasting and they respectfully declined.  It was nice of them not to freak out and give me a bible speal, but they'd be in favor of a more "Christian" styled wedding instead if we still wanted to have one.  I like how they said "style" in that, it means that even if the vows were different and incorporated the Goddess, they'd still want to go.

I'm looking forward to the future, and with luck at some point this year I'm gonna be Mrs. Fraysse instead of my 15 character last name.  Yay for making things easier!

Thank you for everyone who have sent me their blessings, I think it's really helped with my recovery from my accident, as well as my overall health.  It's still incredible to think that after going through hell and back Chris has stood fast with me, even though he's a few years younger then I am.  (I just turned 22 last week, and he turns 20 next month.)  After nearly 5 years I think I'm finally going to be able to have my own family.

Bright Blessings everyone.

^___________^. I'm happy to see you're alright after the fall, surgery, and everything else. The ring sounds really really pretty by the way.  I'm sorry you're having to hold off on the handfastening for a little while, but that's the way the cookie crumbs sometimes. OH, I'm also glad Chris is handing with ya though everything. That proves, given none of us know how things play out, that at the very least you'll have an awesome friend to turn to no matter what.  (semi-rant)--> Which, in my mind, is worth everything to know you'll  have someone that understands you and can tell you things, you need to, but don't want to hear (end semi-rant)  I can't wait to hear more plans about the wedding regardless of which way you choose to go.

I finally got a date!  Chris and I are officially married via JP, and our handfasting is at the end of July.  My HP and a few of our circle-mates donated to our cause so we didn't have to spend anything.  I'm so excited now.  It won't be spectacular, we opted out of exchanging rings and we're deciding what to do instead.  Any ideas?

We're also thinking about doing a "second" wedding next year for the rest of the families.  This should be interesting.

Oh and *hugz to Bramble*  TY sweety, and don't worry about your rant, I understand.  Glad to hear from you none the less ^_^

Hmmm if you're not wanting to do rings, this is just what's floating around in my head,  You could do some nice necklaces or bracelets, just something small that you don't have to worry about falling down a drain and it being easy to keep up with.  I know at "Things to Remember" a store in the local mall here, they, if the product is still there, had cord bracelets with a little sliver heart on the end that you could have engraved. So that's a thought.  what else....what else.... (I'm taking this idea from an online comic I read)  You could also do something as simple as both taking thin pieces of ribbon or string and loosely tieing it around the other's neck or wrist. (In the comic two of the main characters had red strings loosely tied around their necks  to show that they were together)... I think that's all I can think of at the moment. If anything else pops into my head I'll be sure to post.  Maybe my little ideas will help y'all come up with something.

If one of your friends is a tattoo artist, might they also donate to the cause and tattoo the first innitial of your on his ring finger and his on yours?  Very non-time or material consuming.

No, we're not lucky enough to be good friends with a tattoo artist,  and we don't want to risk the consequences with the tattoo's.  We love each other a great deal, but we also know things can happen and it would be easier to part without the reminder.  I was thinking about a necklace, my HP makes jewelry with crystal beads and stones and that's probably what she had in mind anyways.  I shoulda figured that out ... huh I guess that's another thing I may not have to worry about.

Ah, we're going to get the JP today, I had my first job in months yesterday doing security from 6 - 6.  Not sure how much money I got, gonna see today, but I know it's more then enough to pay my credit card off a little bit more and give my dad some grocery money.  Justice of the Peace marriage certificates are only $50.
