I love this state...spent most of my life here.  On various occassions I left the state, for school or work, and always came back here thinking that leaving was a bad idea.  I am particularly fond of Colorado Springs with it's nearby woods, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak.

Glad to know I am not the only one who is fond of this state.  Smile

I used to live in Manitou, where the GOG was literally my back yard...talk about some enlightening experiences! (candle)

Blessings, and wel met!

Welcome to the castle thecatsmeow!

Thanks!

What's your favorite area to visit? I think my fave is actually a parking area where when you first round the bend to see the cathedral towers...takes my breath away every time!
I have some really cool photos that I took the last time I was out there (Dec05). I took these at sunrise.

For overall view, I like a parking area outside the park (not the visitor enter parking lot).  You get many of the formations with Pikes Peak in the background.  But when I go there to simply get away from humanity, I prefer the parking area between the 'tourist area' and balancing rock.  It shows the least of human impact and in a number of spots, more or less on the trails, lets you see the whole of the garden without any buildings.

Those pics are gorgeous.  The second one is where I usually go to get pictures of some of the chainmail jewelry I make.  I really should get some of my GOG pictures online to share with the CO folk who have left.

I would love to see pics of Garden of the Gods (GOG) ! I am sure everyone else would be amazed as well. I used to drive down there from Denver every once in a while when I was younger and just hang out...the energies were amazing there.

Great pictures thecatsmeow. welcome to the castle!! Look forward to seeing more of you!!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Photography has always been a hobby of mine since I was a little girl, stealing my mother's Kodak insta-matic camera and shooting photos of anything and everything (much to the dismay of my parents)! Twisted Evil I'd be happy to post my photographs (once I find them again...lol). To save space on the servers here, I will post them at my web site's server, although I wouldn't be able to leave them up for too long.

so my first attempt to show this image didn't work...try the link below...maybe it will work.

image on MySpace

This is my favorite pic of GOG...it's also the only one I have in digital format.  If/when I get others scanned, I'll link them here.

nevermind...i'll figure out somewhere else to upload the photo.  I would either need to set mySpace to public or add anyone who wanted to see the photo as a friend.
