Oh, my!  I just realized how large our Cuppa Clan is.  Surprised

Hello, to everyone!   (woohoo)

I like that PA tea myself, but I drink mine unsweetened with lemon wedges.

SM, I just believe with all my heart that you are going to see your kids this time and nothing will stand in your way.

Acasia, I almost envy you.  I loved working in my yard before I moved out and into my small apartment with no yard to work in.....but, I have my sanity....I think....

Icymoon, I'm still praying for you guys and that Derek will have what is needed.  You are an amazing mom.  Hang in there!

And Stacy, that was hilarious!  Sorry your evening with your beauty bar turned out so ugly... Laughing

Kathartica, it has been good hearing from you again.  I just think that in time your mom will come to grips with your life choices and the spiritual path you have chosen to follow.  That is if she intends to have a relationship with you and I can't imagine her not wanting that.  You are a wonderful young adult with such a smart head on your shoulders.  Just talk to her.  She's not gonna stop loving you.

Gaia, I saw pictures you posted on one of Sundown's topics and it must be just terrible having to look at all that beauty all the time.... Wink   I've always wanted to go to Hawaii.  Now that I have resolved my fear of flying, I just might do it one day.

But, remember the beach trip I didn't get to take last September due to the hurricanes......well,
I'm leaving Thursday morning for 5 nights and 6 days of sand, sun and ocean breezes.   Very Happy
I am so excited!!

So, Novia, if you don't see me hanging around in chat for a while you'll know where I am....Thanks, friend.

Anyway, it's good to get to catch up and encourage each other this way.  I hate to think about how it would be if that weren't possible any longer.  I sure would miss you guys.   (hug)

That's right,  Amy, you didn't get to go before!  Well, I think they've got most of the mess picked up by now.  This is the best time of the year to go over to the Galveston area.  I'm really hoping we can get a day or two to drive over pretty soon, too.  You have a wonderful time and enjoy all that Gulf hospitality!  (Crawfish ain't bad, either!)  I can guarantee a tan, cuz I've been getting one out on the playground!

Sounds like you had a "hard" time with that bar of soap, Stacey.  I had a good laugh out of that one.   Laughing

I'm winding down for the night and hoping to get some relaxing "reading" in before I go to bed.  So, nighty-night all.  Sweet dreams.  (Don't let the bedbugs bite.)

Acasia ~ I wish I had enough yard to work up that much of a sweat. It takes me all of 10 minutes to mow the lawn. I am looking forward to this time next year when we head back to the mainland (unless hubby deploys again) so that we can buy a house and start working on planting and landscapes that aren't temporary.

Stacey ~ That story was hilarious. I can just picture you struggling with that brick of soap. At least you were persistent about not letting it go to waste.

Kath ~ I hope the conversation with your Mom is beneficial for the both of you. Sorry you had to spend so many hours couped up in a negative environment like that.

Novia ~ Sounds like you Mother's Day was tons of fun despite the buggie that's got you feeling like a train came through. Get some rest...that dusting can wait.

Amethytstone ~ It's a tough life here in paradise Wink but someone has to do it. I will miss Hawaii for sure but honestly it's so strange to live in perpetual summer. I can't wait for 4 distinct seasons again!!! Of course, I will really be sad that going to the beach will be a rarity. Enjoy your trip!!!

Seamonster ~ I know you will be able to see the kids this summer. Super exciting.

My Mother's Day was fairly uneventful since we went to dinner on Saturday to celebrate before we attended the "Ladies of the 80s" concert. We saw Lisa Lisa, SWV and Salt-N-Pepper with a bunch of friends. I had another field trip today at school which is fun but exhausting. I am getting excited!!! School is almost over and my sister and her kids are coming for a ten day vacation. It's gonna be so good to see them all. It's been almost 5 years since I was home to visit.

Blessings,
Gaia

Stacey, your post had me laughing so  hard!  Maybe you should send it to NASA!  I buy all my stuff from a wonderful woman here in CNY, everything I've bought I've loved.  Windsongacres.com, look it up, I heartily recommend them!

Kathartica, it really sucks that you had to be your mother's "captive audience" for so long.  Try remembering that even though she bugs the **** out of you, it's because she loves you.  I try to not do that to my own kids when I don't agree with something they're doing.  I have to remind myself that they're free to live life and learn in their own way.  Anyway, do some deep breathing and maybe take a bath, it may help.   (((hugs)))

Novia, didn't mean to dis your PA tea.  More power to ya, drink up girl!

So today is gonna be an adventure.....middle child's car is literally on its last wheeze, so we're going to apply for car loan today (with me co-signing,  AGH, much fear here as I imagine my credit rating going down the tubes from unsubstantiated fears of son screwing up somehow and leaving me with his loan!) and then maybe looking at some cars.  I'll be a huge help with that   Wink couldn't tell a ford from a ferrari, and mechanical stuff! hahaha Shocked   Oh well, he needs a car to get to work, so I'll help him out however I can, simple as that.......sigh.........

(woohoo)  We're leaving in about 30 minutes for Orange Beach, Alabama.   (tanning)

You all have a wonderful weekend and I'll check back in with you when I get back to see what all has happened since I left.    bubye

Amethy- Thank you!

SM - Thank you and I have already lit the candle for you in hopes the trip goes as you plan.

Gaia - I haven't really talked to you yet, so I thought I would say Hi and thank you!

Acasia - I lived up by Chicago most of my life and in September you should be pretty safe to not worry about any layovers due to weather. It usually don't snow up there till around the end of October till November sometime.

Stacey - as far as that soap, I think it just like you so much it never wanted to part from you!

Kath - sorry to hear that you had to take the ride from hell, but at least it wasn't a straight 15 hrs. of hell you had time in between to knock back a few and calm the nerves.

Novia - Long time no type! I agree with you I like my plain ass tea too. us poor people don't have the luxury of the other stuff. not to mention the few times I've splurged and got something different, I wound up not liking it.
I hope you don't get that bug they got, and the present sounds great. Is hubby sore too from all the walking?
As far as motherly sainthood goes, my daughter would disagree with you, since I make her sit down and do all her homework every night, and never let her get away with anything (or so she thinks).

Bright Blessings one and all till next time our paths cross.

Akina, I don't know you since your new, so thought I would say hi. I also hope you start feeling better, those bugs can be pretty vicious!

Well med change #2 is going ok so far.  Hope this new med is better than the last. hard to tell yet since he has 3 going through his system right now, but keeping my fingers crossed. Deanna, my daughter for those of you who don't know, has 2 projects her teacher just gave her for school. Can anyone tell me why a teacher would give kids projects a few weeks before school lets out? You think that she would want to make it easier on herself. I don't think it would be so bad if they both weren't due on June 2nd, when school lets out on June 3rd.  If you ask me her teacher is being a**nine. Is it just me or does anybody agree with me?

That depends on the projects and how the teacher is using the information from them.  Are they in lieu of a test or is he using it as some kind of assessment of accumulated knowledge?  If that's the case, I can understand giving the student one project, but generally, projects cost money and time and energy, and two at a time seems a tad much this late in the year.  Maybe the teacher is being pressured from behind to come up with some form of visual learning capabilites?  What grade is Deanna in?

So Icy, could ya guess SM is a teacher?  Laughing From your necka da woods even!

Who knows why teachers do what teachers do! Personally, I think it is to drive the parents crazy cause we all know in the end, it's them that suffer thru all projects!  Shocked (Paybacks for making them deal with their children for a whole year! Ducking now!!!! Laughing )

howdy ya'll!
awesome how a retreat up to the cottage can rejuvenate one's spirit isn't it? Things are still rocky with mom, but luckily there's enough work of opening up for the spring to be done that I managed to enjoy the cottage and avoid her all at the same time.

Akina- lots of vit. C my dear, hope you's feelin better.

Icy= is the teacher a glutton for punishment? Laughing I know seamonster raises some good points and it makes sense that she probably has some reasons... but I'm with ya in thinking she's just a little cracked perhaps! lol Keepin derek in my thoughts.

Amythestone- the moment you're back I expect a full report... so I can live vicariously.  green with envy, cottage may be nice, but it still snowed yesterday!

acasia how's the car hunt going?

I'm off to bed with a cuppa PA... which is a term I've now adopted into regular vocabulary... thanks again for that one stace!

I'm not crazy, it's just that I enjoy talking to the trees and singing to the moon...

AARGH!  I have to type this dang thing again! (signed me out) Evil or Very Mad

Yep, the parent/teacher thing is definitely love/hate.  There are some parents who truly need to be put in their place.  I'm sure there are parents that wonder about me, too.  I have a couple parents this year that I would LOVE to pay back! Twisted Evil  There really are some teachers out there that don't know what they are doing, and that is why this country's education system isn't all that anymore.  We still have kids graduating without knowing how to read or write or (my personal pet peeve) problem solve.
