Sad  Sorry to hear you guys are having such a horrid summer.  It does make me truly dread what our next summer is going to bring.  Is this what the weather is normally like for you, or is it worse?

Yes please don't remind me about Ike. We got a lot of the  refugees from the hurricane last year here in Austin, and I thought we were going to go crazy. Almost all the gas and food was gone for awhile. Oh and not to mention all the extra traffic we had. I know it was horrible for you guys to leave your homes, but it wasn't easy on the places you had to go to either. I just hope that this years hurricanes aren't as bad!

It is nice to see you posting some LE! It is good for you to take a break too!

Thanks breaks are very good for the soul.......and I was here, just performing other daily duties that need to be done....this is a big-ass site, and alot is done everyday, ya'll don't see. But thought I would pop into this thread since it involves me on a daily basis......I am driking coffee right now and geting ready for my Monday AM TV Stint.....at 630am.....sighs....dang waking up at 430 is hard work....we did get a bit of rain last night, so now it is sticky outside....my glasses fog up when I go outside....lol

Everyone who lives here go on and on about how we dislike this part of the world.....but we chose to live here, so I guess thre are lessons to be learned and people to meet that can make us understand......

I have met some fabulous people here.....Sundown us just one of the many peopke I would sell my soul for...he is my brother and true Druid. Some of the folks at KTVE are fabulous too.....and of course Seamonster....she is in Houston, but another one who suffers like we do here in LA with the weather......and a  handfulmore I didn't mention and I apologize.....I need more coffee.....and then it's on the road.....you know who you are....

Hey, even up here in the 'midwest' we get ya'lls weather up here now and again. It was hotter the who konws where last week, humidity of way too high, and when ya walked out the door it smelled like an old stagnant pond!

Has been wonderful this weekend however, cool, nearly chilly, but are heading back up again this wekk. Now wonder our gardens revolt!

Oh hell no, ya couldn't pay me enough, no matter how grand the lessons, to live down yon!

I think for me, if I were to live somewhere "on purpose" I would do it for the history of the place, and it would only be temporary at that.   Of course, if I CHOSE my home it would be back where I grew up and I would stay put!  I wouldn't mind "checking out" LA for a bit, but I don't think I'd want to live there permanently.  TX is tough enough and I really do miss the snow.  I was actually calculating the other day and I realized that even though I consider myself a Washingtonian, grew-up-in-snow-country, kinda gal, I have lived longer in the no-snow zones.

*ACK-  How Cute!  I just saw a cat chasing a squirrel outside my window!!

Anyway...*shake it off*...LE, this place has been my other otherworld.  I come here for guidance and sanity and I find it here 100% of the time!  (Alright, we do get a little "insane" now and again,   , but the insanity of my life is overwhelming at times and the two do not compare.)

Isn't strange how we seem to be unhappy in the place where ultimately we chose to live...hm...
I'm no exception.  My home city is usually hot, humid, and no rain in the summer, and the winters are somewhat snowy with cold temps I can do without, BUT..the last 2 years, we've had record cold, record snow, flooding in the spring, and very rainy summers.
My lineage must have been sun worshippers, because sun, heat, humidity is what I love.  In the 30's (is that 90's?) and high humidity, you'll find me in the garden, smile on my face, working away.  I just strip down, (not too far, I've got neighbors), drink lots of water.
I've tried talking my man into moving to a warmer place, take a chance, go on an adventure but we're opposites.  He's a typical accountant, he calls me a 'free spirit'.   Laughing I don't know about that, but when I read about you guys and the heat, I start drooling.

I live in Connecticut, which is expensive as hell, but the weather is manageable, most of the time.  I have always lived here, and always will (as long as I can afford it lol) so maybe that's why I feel this way, but I never complain about the weather, I am just glad to be alive.   This attitude  probably makes most of you want to  slap me, so I'll stand still and let you do it.

No, I don't want to slap you.  I think you live in a beautiful place.  It's one of the places I mentioned to my husband.  I thought it was the perfect compromise.  It's not too cold in the winter, but not too hot in the summer for him.  You're not in tornado alley, get hurricane remnants for the most part, and not many poisonous reptiles, or insects.  Why is it expensive??  Is the cost of living more there than in other states?
I just checked the real estate, the houses are a bit more than what they are up here but there are a few that are very nice and within our budget.  OK.....stop myself..hubby doesn't want to get his license to practice in the states...I was dreaming there for a few minutes.
