I cried after reading the 6th book . I still can't believe Dumbledore is dead! I thought, maybe he'll return in the 7th, but that moment never came. I was called a "punk" (jokingly, of course) after I told someone that I cried. But I let her borrow the book, and she confessed to crying!

I would have laughed at the hisser too.  I commonly tell people that Gandhi was a Hindu, Einstein was a Jew, and Galileo was excommunicated.  Many of the greatest people ever are in Hell if the Christians are right so I know I'll be in good company.   Very Happy   Shuts 'em up.

I hated that she killed off Sirius too.  That is why I rarely read the 5th book, it is my least favorite.  I hate that she killed Lupin and Fred in the last one. Sad  Made me sad.

You know...I have to admit, I really hated that she killed of Snape too.  Once you see the depth of things he has sacrificed and done, and what he had to do....I was quite shattered he had to die too.  *sighs* Ahhh, such is life I spose.  I was pissed about her killing of Lupin, I was sad about Fred, but not as much.  I think everyone 'bonds' to different characters throughout the books and movies.  Perhaps they are reminded of folks from real life or something?  Either way, damn good books.

Sorry if this is too old a thread to chip in, but an invocation and hissing is considered one way to confront a demon. One thing that always bugs me about
Christianity in general (no offense to the Christians) is that the worst of the ilk always seem to assume the role of  spokespeople. That's probably just a truth about people in general.

The "Dear Prudie" response of saying "Excuse Me?" in an incredulous voice is a great one for rude people.

If they caught me on a bad day and I was quick on my feet, I'd make an imaginary mark in the air and blow it to them. (Okay, I probably wouldn't because it's mean and I'm not that quick, but it would be my amusing twenty minutes later imaginary response).

I too kept expecting Dumbledore to reappear, and was sooo upset that Snape died. He was a true hero.

I caught the movie preview yesterday online - I LOVE the JKR website, she has clues all over the website that allow you to mix brews and
potions and unlock pictures and writings from her original manuscripts that you collect in a scrapbook. www.jkrowling.com.

I think in their dying the author has made an interesting point.  Even the great wizard is mortal and cannot be deified.

Wow, I am incredibly late on reading this! But I was sad when everyone died. But I do believe what SM says.

Crying or Very sad I have to say, I was really disappointed with the movie.  Boring in parts, and no where near as well done as it could have been.  *sighs*  All that build up for nothing.

Ah, if only we could have seen the movie before the book.  They always leave out parts of the book I would love to see on film.  The books are always so much better because we infuse our own imagination  into the words.  Half Blood Prince could have been better but I'll probably see it again anyway......
