How fares all who have been beaten by this early winter blast?

Fared farely well here in KC, only a couple inches of snow, a coating of ice below that, and cold ass temps!! BTW did I mention the wind!!!???? All's I can say is.... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (cold)

You know you gotta luv it when the dumb ass city workers (no offense meant to any who might reside here, but hey, pay attention! LOL)  plow the streets following snowfalls, which are preceeded by rain/freezing rain/sleet, only to remove what little chance one might have at traction, to leave us with shiny ice covered streets, expecting us to actually get some fricken place! Then they bitch when shit gets all tied up with cars here there and everywhere because oh look they keep sliding all over the damn place! hey, leave us the fricken snow, we do better!!!! Evil or Very Mad  Now, that's when we have our little 2 inches of snow, let us get inches of snow, not preceeded by the afore mentioned ice creating crap, then they don't plow shit. Then they still bitch cause oh look, shits all tied up with cars here there and everywhere, lol. (and BTW you will always get stopped, on a hill, covered with ice, by a bus picking up one kid, 'cause the city won't close a fricken school!)

Ok, ice then little snow, don't plow!!! Snow, a quantity, with no ice, plow!!! Geez, they need to formulate some kinda procedure to follow in regards to this crap. After all these years, y think they'd have it down to a science!!!!  Mad

Hell coming down my street, (hill, into a curve, with a hill to the side heading down into a creek) is nothing but one sheet of ice. I slid down it, and nearly off it. One car slid into where hubbies truckWAS parked, not a 1/2 hour after he pulled it into the drive. The neighbors mailbox (mounted to a steel post, set in concrete) was wiped out when I got home. Standing when I left this morning. Getting up this bitch in the mornings gonna be entertaining, cause it's not gonna do any good if they put ice crap down, cause it's too damn cold to work now. Going down to 2 tonight with a windchill of -13.

I'm gonna go get my cuppa Chai and crawl under the kivvers!!!

Wow!  Sounds pretty nasty up there!  I swear those plow drivers aim at the mailboxes.  Laughing  Growing up, I remember Dad had to replace our mailbox several times a Winter, and if he didn't, the mailman would gripe about not delivering our mail until we had one.  Evil or Very Mad  (OK, so there's one thing I'm not looking forward to.)

I am smiling.  The past 2 storms were nothing as predicted.  The first storm was supposed to be 12 inches of snow, and all we got was rain.  This past storm,  must have blown itself out before it got here.  We were supposed to get 12 inches again, followed by rain to pack it all in like concrete.  We got not quite 4 inches, and the temp is just below the freezing mark, so easy shoveling.
Twisted Evil The kids had to go to school today.  Very Happy
Novia, it's only a matter of time before we get the same weather up here, and then to contend with all the maniac drivers.  And speaking of which, it is my son's first winter driving experience.  .....Oh, my poor car.

Oh, I hear you, Novia!  Surprised  We didn't get a lot of that four-letter-word snow, but the wind was horrible!!!  WHY did we think winter was fun when we were young?!  In the parking lot of my daughter's condo, they plow that snow right up behind the cars parked there!  Mad   The sheets were like ice last night and I had to do a head-to-toe warming spell to stop shivering... But, yeah, at least I wasn't out driving in the conditions you had to!  (Blessing!)

Winter can be a real PITA out here on the farm and I oh-so-hear you about the mailboxes, Seamonster!!!  Evil or Very Mad

Everyone stay SAFE on those icy roads!!!

Blessings,

Take care and be sure to have the proper emergency equipment for your home and car in this weather!!

All in all in sounds beautiful! I used to really enjoy the severe storms we recieved in Colorado. They were something I awlays looked forward too...staying home, baking, and cuddling and watching the flakes pile up was a fav pastime.

Here in Louisiana this morning we are due rain all day long, and around 40*F.  I can hear it the rain pitter-patter on the roof as I type this, it is a different way to experience the season...without snow...but I am getting used to it. I now think 40 is cold! LOL

Everyone please be safe in this weather, I would hate to have anything happen to any of you....

Blessings to you and yours in this wonderous season!

Wow, I'd love to have some 40 degree weather up here. I've had to work outside a couple nights at 5 degrees.

Ick.  Sad

Ha ha ha ha ha  Laughing   Don't like snow?   (snow)   Then move to Vegas!  Last year, about this time, for the first time in 30 years, snow hit the ground ....... I had 6" in my back yard and my pool started to freeze over.  Yes, we do get quite a bit of snow on Mt. Charlston, enough to go skiing, but it usually doens't hit Vegas Proper.  Everyone freaked out.  The closed school early that day and the next day calling it a "snow day"   Laughing   It was too funny!  I grew up in the Bay Area and have been in Vegas for just over a year now.  What they call "rain" I call a "sprinkle".  I wanted to move to Colorado or Oregon, but the hubby comes from the UK and refused to move anywhere that it snows.  So it was extra funny for me when it snowed here!

Hope everyone has great holidays!

North of where I live is a place called the Tug Hill Plateau, it sits just east of Lake Ontario.  They got 4, yes 4, feet of snow in 2, yes 2, days last week.  We only got a couple of inches.   Smile   My mailbox is attached to a 4x4 stand, not sunk in the ground.  That way when the snowplow nails it and it ends up in the ditch, I just haul it out and stand it up again.   Laughing   And I love the days when we are snowed in and can stay home and bake and relish home joys.  The only problem is they seem to be fewer and fewer, everyone these days thinks it's virtuous to risk life and limb getting to work on days when no business is going to take place because of the weather anyway.   Confused
