oh my gosh!  Nothing is cuter or more entertaining than a litter (or two) of kittens.  Wish I could take one, or two, or more, but alas, I am too far away, plus my cat is 17 years old and still in very good health.   I figure not only would a sweet little kitten completely annoy her, but I'm pretty sure she'd kill it ....... she's just a wee bit spoiled.  Enjoy them!

Here are some of the final pictures of the second litter. All little kitties are gone, and both moms are fixed:

Both of my cats are rescues. A friend of ours keeps "inheriting" cats that just show up. Her grandsons actually took in our 1st that we adopted from her- they were hiding it from her several dogs (she rescues greyhounds) and my wife fell in love with it. The second, was just a scrawny little thing and the runt of the litter. He looked like he wasn't getting a lot of food. But he was very friendly. I was going out into the woods behind our friend's house and he just came right up to me, climbed my leg, put his head under my chin and started purring. When we took him to the vet (after bringing him home) the vet said he was very close to dying as he wasn't very healthy at all. Well, less than a year later, he's at least 15lbs, quite spirited, and still very affectionate. All of our cats have been rescues. The first one I ever bought home, I found at the dump when I was getting rid of trash. Had him for over 18 yrs before his health failed. For anyone out there who cares about your cats, remember this: if you live in a rural area, you likely have coyotes in the area. many "outside" cats fall victim to coyote predation during the night. keep that in mind when your kitty is let out at night.

Blessings,

Draco

I sometimes think that feral cats leave an indication that the person who lives in a specific spot is friendly to cats, kind of like hobos in the US during the Great Depression: "Friendly human here--will give food."

Virtually all of my cats have been rescues, so I can relate. The two moms are feral cats in my apartment complex, and I am the only human they trust. I was in serious danger of being a evicted, as I am only allowed to have 2 animals at a time, but I could turn down the babies. Si8nce I was able to adopt out 8 of 11 on my own, cat rescue in the adopted the final three, given I was due to have my apartment inspected within the week and would have been evicted. Another local program spaid the moms for free and gave them shots--I was really lucky because one was pregnant again.

I have no coyotes, but I do have possums, raccoons, and foxes. The possums actually get along well with the cats, but the kitties stir clear of the raccoons and  foxes. Probably the biggest problem for kittens is that male cats will kill kittens do that the female will go back into heat. As far as I am aware, the moms are the only 2 females alive in my area of the complex, so I've hopefully eliminated that problem.

I hate that people just abandon there animals, or don't take proper care of them when they have them.  Evil or Very Mad

Most of my mom's cats came from Powderpuff, whom mom rescued when she was a kitten.  Mom had just gotten them all fixed when her former friend lost her home and dumped her cats on her.  One of whom promptly started having kittens.  Now we are stuck with three adorable kittens, two of which are female, and an unspayed Queen.  Homeward Bound was suppose to take them but they had to many to rehome already.  I guess I am going to have to foot the bill to get the babies and mom fixed since Mom and Carl can't afford it right now.  I just hope she doesn't get knocked up again before I can get to it, but I have got to get new glasses before I can do anything else big with my money.
