It sounds like everyone has had a wonderful Yule! We went down to Boise (or thereabouts) and had a great time with Tim's family--there are way too many of them.  Shocked  Came back to snow, snow, snow, snow, snow...and it's STILL doin' it!   (snow)  Evil or Very Mad

I wish you all a wonderful new year!! If you're going to do a lot of drinking, stay out of the driver's seat, my dears! As for me and my new family, (the youngest is at his mother's for the week... Twisted Evil ), we will be stayin' in!!

With the exception of joining some friends for dinner on NY E, I will be tucked away safely in my little one br apt. with a nice bottle of merlot.   Very Happy

Novia, I know what you mean about the time it takes to login to PL.  It takes so long to come up and then to look at the forums......I have to make sure I have plenty of time before checking in.   Mad

SM, sounds like you're enjoying the cold Northwest but at least you have someone to snuggle up to on those frigid nights.      Wink

I wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Blessings,

I am soooo glad my American History class is not one of those numbing, idiot-inducing, lie-infested classes that try to brainwash masses into believing that all is right with America. They are actually getting to the meat of the matter and that thrills me to death! There is, however, waaaay too much writing to do...as if that's a problem for me.  Embarassed

I was going to visit my mother's yesterday since my kidlings were going to be over there for their "late Christmas with Grammy", but my flu and the nasty weather stopped me. We have around eight inches here all of a sudden, since yesterday, and my stupid ex dragged my kids out in blizzard conditions to drive them 150 miles to her place, down two mountain passes.  Evil or Very Mad  What a royal jerk. He only did it because he knows my mom spends a load on the kids and probably got him some "goody", too. (evil1)  What a dweeb. I'm so glad I stayed home. I would have had to deal with him over there and that would have put a large cloud over the party. The kids had a good time while they were there, though, and I made sure they were all okay today.

I'm looking forward to the New Year. I am trying to really change my eating habits and eat more locally grown foods. I bought a juicer for 3.75 at a thrift shop and have really been having a good time trying out recipes and such. It's helping me deal with my flu, (as is the vitamin c that I'm eating like candy!) and I'm finding there's a wallop of energy packed into a glass of freshly squozen veggie juice!  Smile

Happy new years every one!  I had to work new years eve.  But I since you are suppose to spend all year doing what ever you were doing at the stroke of midnight I made sure I was singing one of the songs I wrote when the peach dropped. (We watched it on one of the TVs in the dining room.)  I had planned on burning my old tarot readings and meditating a bit and rewriting my kamic contract for the new year but I was so exhausted when I got home I forgot all about it.  I figure if I do it around the new moon that'll surfice.  It still counts if you do it during the day on a new moon, right?  Bdecause I'll be working that night too.  Hey at least I finally get some hours.  I'll have gas money to go to my audition!! hh) I already left a note for Amanda (the boss) asking for the day off on the 29th and/or 30th.

I made a resolution this year not to left fear and uncertainty stop me from doing anything.

We finally got our first real snow yesterday, though it turned out to be only a little bit.  Hope everyone who has really gotten hit this year is keeping safe.

Wondering what everyone is working on during these cold winter months?  Making medicines?  Crafting?  New spells?    Confused

Hi everyone!!  It's been a long time since I've been able to visit the castle!!  I'm all settled in my little cottage and loving it!!  I've got nice neighbors too!  Spending alot of time with my school work, took alittle break to get the moving accomplished, but I'm back in the groove now.  Also spending alot of time dreaming and planning my new herb garden for this spring (while the snow falls and falls and falls).

On a much sadder note, my beloved dog and best friend, Bacchus, passed away very suddenly Dec. 13.  He became ill Sunday and by Monday afternoon he was gone.  My vet believes it may have been an autoimmune-mediated menningitis, which would have meant some heavy duty drugs and a guarded prognosis.  In some ways, I'm glad he didn't suffer for long but of course I miss him terribly.  He has left me with many wonderful memories and I'm sure we will meet again at that rainbow bridge.

How is everyone?!  What have I missed?!  I'm so glad to be back!

Sorry to hear your family members are being shipped off so far away, Indigo.  But like Novia, I am curious as to why.  Is it the military or job perhaps?  I pray and send safety wishes and thoughts for them and comfort to you and your family in their absence.

Novia, you are right.  Winter is here and the ice man cometh.  :|  He settled in for a while.  We received mostly ice here in NE Louisiana and although most has melted the temps are hanging in the teens at night and thirties during the day.  That's cold for us.

Acasia, so glad to hear you're all settled in your cottage.  Sounds really nice but I'm sorry you lost your friend.   Sad   Hugs, Hon.

Our offices were closed yesterday due to the weather but it was back to work as usual today.  Work 4 days, then off 3 for the Martin Luther King holiday, then back to work for 4.  It will be a long time now before we get another paid holiday.  Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), March 8, will be our next one.  During November, December and January we get several paid holidays and it's nice but it sure makes it difficult to get back into the swing of things once they are all over.

Oh, well.  I hope you all stay safe and warm and blessed.

Acasia,  your cottage sounds lovely!  What are you going to school for?  I am going through classes as well, should have my AS degree at the end of this semester, then will be working toward my BS in Biology.  So sorry to hear that you lost your fur-baby.

Amethystone, sounds like you got some snow where you are at!  Hope the roads are in good condition for you!  Smile

I'm in an online school for veterinary technology (you can't use "nursing" for anything other than human beings, but essentially it's animal nursing).  It's challenging and in-depth and if you don't have self-discipline you're sunk, but I'm enjoying the challenge and it feels good to be learning new stuff.  I already work at an animal hospital as a receptionist, but the pay won't make ends meet since the soon-to-be-ex left, so here I am in my fifties starting over back in school.  I'll have to work until I'm 80 to get any kind of retirement savings accumulated.  lol

Indigo, I can imagine how you feel with your family leaving.  My son just got back from England.  He was there for five months and although I talked to him every weekend (thank the gods for Skype) it still seemed that he was on another planet.  If you don't already know about this "Skype" thing, look into it!  My son was able to call my home phone from his computer and it didn't cost much.  It was wonderful to be able to talk to him often without it costing an arm and a leg.  (If you haven't guessed I'm totally techno-inept being of an "older generation".)

Finally have a moment to pop back in here!  Hope this new calendar year has started off well for everyone.  If not, I hope it gets better ASAP!

It's been so very hectic here since March of last year, but finally getting back to whatever "normal" is, lol.  Grandson was actually born on his due date in mid-November and I'm happy to share that his paternal grandfather is now cancer-free!!!

Winter came early here in the Midwest and I know it's been cold and snowy for many of you.  Is it too early to say, "HURRY, SPRING" or not???  Laughing

Blessings to all,
RK
