September 21- September 27
Happy Birthday Libra!
Last week when Saturn re-entered optimistic and adventurous Sagittarius I sort of gave it a simple nod and nothing more. In truth it's a big deal! I was thinking maybe this week we could give Saturn his due. However, looking at the week ahead, there's just too much going on that demands our attention! Besides, Saturn is the planet of patience; so we'll be good if we put him off for another week in favor of talking about the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on Sunday September 27th, not to mention, the Sun entering Libra on Wednesday the 23rd and Mars entering Virgo on Thursday. Big week! (Saturn will be in Sagittarius for 2 years, until December 2017, so we have plenty of time to do right by him.)
The Full Moon in Aries on Sunday evening, September 27th is going to be fabulous. It's the Harvest Moon that also happens to be a Total Lunar Eclipse. Typically Full Moons (and Lunar Eclipses) are symbolic of completions, things coming to fruition, and releases paving the way for new beginnings. Think of it as the Moon has gathered a full measure of sunlight, as much as it can possibly hold and now in the days to come it gently releases a bit every night until finally it is empty. This may strike a chord within us: something in our lives has run its course; it's time to applaud, bless, and release.
Astrologer Raven Kaldera has titled the Full Moon in Aries the ‘Warrior' – courageous, innovative, and inspirational – fire energy at its best. This Lunar Eclipse is a call to the warrior spirit within us all. It's a call for courage, bravery and gumption to face our fears. As the Earth throws its shadow across the Moon, we have the opportunity to face our own shadows – yes literally. A talent or gift is begging for fuller expression in our lives. We may feel inept, inexperienced, or blatantly afraid. That does not stop Aries – this energy thrives on a challenge as an opportunity to improve.
Is there something you have always wanted to do but were afraid to try? Is there something you keep putting off until the time is ‘right'? Is there anywhere in your life you feel like you have untapped potential? Are you getting the point here? Why not now? Face your shadows and your fears. When the Full Moon re-emerges from the shadow of the Earth, the energy has been rebooted, reset, and charged up. Maybe this is the sign you have been looking for. Calling all warriors – this message is for you!
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.
MONDAY
SEPTEMBER 21
MOON in SAGITTARIUS/CAPRICORN
Moon Void of Course 1:59 am (PDT) – 5:33 am
In the face of multiple options and choices we may feel like making an escape, for real or just into our imaginations. However, a determined Moon in Capricorn is not likely to let that happen. Of all the choices we seem to see, none of them are very convincing or appealing. With a hard-to-please connection between Mars and Pluto, and an equally challenging connection between Venus and Chiron, no path stands out as a true winner. Also today, the Moon reaches the halfway point between the two September Eclipses. No wonder we are feeling indecisive!
Some of our dilemmas are likely to involve work, money, resources, and security. That Cornflower Blue Kitchen Aid mixer with all the snazzy attachments is on sale; but is it really worth it if I have to buy it on credit? Does it fit into my real lifestyle or the just the one I dream about? Today we are encouraged to do a reality check; don't hold on too tight and don't spend as if there is no tomorrow. When in doubt about any decision, delay until you get more information and feel more clarity. If you have to choose, don't second guess yourself.
Tonight, comforting lunar connections with both Neptune and Jupiter help to ease any tension of the day and remind us there really is enough to go around. When we focus on our true source, we look beyond flimsy illusions that speak of lack and scarcity.
Daily Muse: If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. (Wayne Dyer)
TUESDAY
SEPTEMBER 22
MOON in CAPRICORN
Moon Void of Course 4:13 pm (PDT) – 10:51 am Wednesday Morning
We are still focusing on areas of security today, but unlike yesterday, we are likely to see an unexpected blessing or path opening up before us. This is thanks to Venus in Leo purposefully moving toward an alignment with Uranus, in fellow fire sign Aries, this evening. But before we get there, we have business to attend to. An early morning lunar merger with Pluto focuses our attention on work, duty, and responsibilities. Although this is a sobering energy, it feels welcome, as we put wandering imaginations and distractions behind us in favor of getting something important accomplished. It's best to double check your work and don't take things at face value as the Moon is also squaring Mercury this morning. In late afternoon, a lunar square to Uranus also threatens to temporarily derail our focus with a temptation.
Take care of important work or obligations in the morning and be ready to enjoy some unexpected synchronicity and pleasure this evening as Venus keeps her date with Uranus. Unexpected people, activities or events bring pleasure. For a lucky few, a chance meeting turns out to be destiny with important implications for either your professional or personal life or maybe both!
Daily Muse: Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. (George Bernard Shaw)
SEPTEMBER 23
MOON in CAPRICORN / AQUARIUS HAPPY AUTUMNAL EQUINOX
Moon enters Aquarius 10:51 am (PDT)
Sun enters Libra 1:21 am (PDT) – Fall Equinox
Today autumn is official as the Sun enters the Cardinal sign of Libra, ushering in a new season. Although this is an assertive and initiating energy, it may take a few days or more to acclimate to its strength. The omens for positive and constructive change are obvious with the Sun connecting to stable and organized Saturn at mid-day.
However, a rebellious Moon in free-thinking Aquarius is discontent, restless and ready to stir something up. Although we may be feeling defiant today, we ought to be looking at ourselves. We may be projecting a rebellious attitude onto others; but most likely it's our own complacency or stagnation, in some area of our lives, we are responding to and want to address.
The Sun in Libra will awaken our desire for more happiness and inspire action towards creating more balance and harmony. Don't let previous missed opportunities or disappointments influence your vision of what's possible in the future. If you feel less than thrilled today, or agitated with no apparent release in sight, no worries. Recognizing your boredom or restlessness is the first key to taking action. This is the day to wake up, identify what's next on the path, and make a plan.
Daily Muse: Originality is the best form of rebellion. (Mike Sasso)
THURSDAY
SEPTEMBER 24
MOON in AQUARIUS
Mars enters Virgo 7:18 pm (PDT)
Pluto stations direct 11:55 pm (PDT)
Moon Void of Course 9:02 am (PDT) – 12:44 pm Friday Morning
Ornery is a somewhat old fashioned word, but I like it a lot. Sometimes, it's just the perfect note that describes the mood when we are feeling grouchy and cantankerous, sort of like today! There seem to be a lot of jagged or rough edges today. The Moon in Aquarius is feeling more rebellious and independent than friendly and visionary. Retrograding Mercury lands in a disagreement with Pluto. We not only don't agree with others, we may find we are disagreeing with ourselves! During this retrograde period, we are reviewing our ideas and beliefs and Pluto is all too willing to jump in with suggestions of what needs to be revised and/or released. Like a petulant child we resist, even when our better sense knows eventually we will give in to the dawning light.
There is a light in this darkness as Mars the planet of action and motivation enters pragmatic Virgo this evening. This is a reminder to find a workable balance between taking care of our own needs and being in service to others. In rehabilitation circles they use an acronym H.A.L.T. that stands for ‘don't allow yourself to get too hungry, angry, lonely or tired.' This is simple but profound advice. Take care of our basic physical and emotional needs and we are in a better position to keep our day on an even keel. Forgetting the basics makes us vulnerable to making mistakes and not being at our best.
Daily Muse: How would your life be different if…You walked away from gossip and verbal defamation? Let today be the day…You speak only the good you know of other people and encourage others to do the same. (Steve Maraboli)
FRIDAY
SEPTEMBER 25
MOON in AQUARIUS / PISCES
Moon enters Pisces 12:44 pm (PDT)
Creative problem solving skills and patience are what we need today as Mars in analytical Virgo makes a square with Saturn in Sagittarius. Ordinarily this can be a very challenging energy where we find our efforts thwarted or delays seem to be the order of the day. There are likely to be a few obstacles or twists, however, I think disciplined Saturn can appreciate the pragmatism of Mars in earthy Virgo and the two will find a way to settle their differences. Putting your head down and pushing through obstacles will not work; however, taking the time to look at the issue from a different point of view just might facilitate a solution. Expect a few postponements or delays today, but assume they are purposeful and will end up being to your advantage in the end.
Daily Muse: It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
(Confucius)
SATURDAY
SEPTEMBER 26
MOON in PISCES
Moon Void of Course 9:32 am (PDT) – 12:29 pm Sunday afternoon
The Full Moon total Lunar Eclipse tomorrow night may be already stirring our imaginations. Today we may have a sense that something in our lives is nearing its climax or completion. Possibly we have finished the hard work involved in a project, or completed our studies in a topic area, or have made the plans for a family event or a community fundraiser. As the Moon reaches its climax, we know also it's time to cease moving forward and let a project stand on its own (like a mother letting go of the hand of her toddler learning to walk.)
The Eclipse is still a day away, but today we can feel the desire to bring some things to closure in favor of redirecting our attention, efforts and resources. If you get the feeling you are done with something, listen. One way to find closure might be to express your feelings creatively through writing, journaling, making an announcement, composing a song or a poem. If you are ‘clutter clearing' your life on a physical or emotional level, be sure to express thanks for the items or experiences for their contributions to your life.
Daily Muse: The thing that captures your attention and holds it over time is your true calling. (Lunaea Weatherstone)
SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 27
MOON in PISCES / ARIES
FULL MOON TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE
5º ARIES
Moon enters Aries 12:29 pm (PDT)
Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse 4 Aries 7:50 pm (PDT)
The air is filled with anticipation as the Moon in Aries inches closer to a perfect opposition with the Sun in Libra forming both a Full Moon and a Total Lunar Eclipse this evening at 7:50 Pacific Time. (Check local information for beginning and end times and for the best places to view this spectacular event.)
Traditionally, Lunar Eclipses are associated with culminations and endings – the natural finish of one cycle allowing another to come forward. This energy is powered by the themes of Aries and Libra – independence and relationship. However, don't jump to the conclusion this is only about relationships with other people. This eclipse could very well highlight the duality within and our need to embrace the many facets of ourselves – not diminishing or excluding the bits we don't love and appreciate.
Astrologer Raven Kaldera calls the Full Moon in Aries the Warrior. Indeed we may be doing battle with ourselves and finding our true strength, power and vitality by wrestling with inner demons. This energy is not about repressing our natural instincts but accepting them; and maybe even re-purposing them to get on board with our deepest desires and goals.
Daily Muse: Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. (Lao Tzu)
