Monday July 15 -- Sunday July 21
Astrological Highlights for the week: On Tuesday, Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn is a powerful shift of energy; and Venus has commitment issues with an opposition to Saturn; Venus gets inspired and creative when she trines Neptune on Thursday; Retrograding Mercury re-enters Cancer on Friday; on Sunday, Venus opposes Pluto and the Sun meets up with Mercury.
This week we celebrate the Capricorn Moon. It?s a big one, literally and metaphorically. On Tuesday the Moon in Capricorn is in close connection to Saturn (discipline), South Node of the Moon (habitual behavior), and Pluto (transformation) when it comes into a perfect opposition to the Sun in Cancer. This Full Moon at 24 Capricorn at 2:38 pm (Pacific Time) is also in such a tight linear alignment with the Earth and Sun, that part of the Earth?s shadow falls on the Moon forming a Lunar Eclipse.
There is nothing superficial or lightweight about this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. But that is not to say there is anything ominous or scary about it either. Let?s just say, profound. There is that impressive line-up of planets in Capricorn; while at the same time, over on the opposite side of our solar system we find Venus, the North Node of the Moon, and the Sun in Cancer. Each of these planetary connections ? the conjunctions in Cancer and in Capricorn and the complementary oppositions between planets in Cancer and Capricorn ? could be energy enough to ignite some pretty significant life changes! When you consider the combined effect, it?s awesome.
Generally Full Moon Lunar Eclipses are associated with projects coming to fulfillment and completion, relationships reaching their highest peak, chapters closing, and other ending cycles. Endings that lead to awesome new beginnings! Home, family, work, professional aspirations, and commitments are especially highlighted under the influence of Cancer and Capricorn. You might want to think about your priorities and what you are willing to do to manifest your goals and dreams. This is the energy of loyalty, dedication, and commitment which may mean saying ?no? to some things, in order to make space to say ?yes? to others.
Venus in Cancer is also an important planet to watch this week as she is an intricate part of the Eclipse and therefore opposes both Saturn and Pluto and forms a favorable alliance with Neptune in Pisces. Venus is the planet of values which includes our attitudes toward love and money, and generally effects what we believe is attractive and of value in life. The oppositions to Saturn and Pluto might feel abrupt or even harsh. Neither Saturn nor Pluto is known for its subtlety or delicate touch! Even if we try to separate out the significant energy of the Lunar Eclipse we are left with Venus working through some fairly profound urges for change. When all is said and done, we are giving serious consideration to how we spend our time and what and who we are willing to commit to. What do we have to release or clear away? What sacrifices, limits, or discipline will be necessary? Some new pictures are being constructed with both old and new pieces.
No matter how subtle or obvious the energy might feel in the moment, I?d highly encourage you to pay attention to your circumstances, people you meet and interact with, and any topics of conversation or ideas that cross your path. Big energetic changes are in the works with this Eclipse and could take weeks and months to fully unfold and manifest.
With five planets moving retrograde at this time (Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto) we might be digging even deeper into our psyches for answers. This is also an indication the enfoldment of our dreams may take a different direction than we anticipate or may take longer than we hope. Whatever the case may be, enjoy the process.
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.
MONDAY
July 15
Moon in Capricorn
We begin the week with the nose to the grindstone, as they say, with the Moon in hardworking and industrious Capricorn. With the Moon building up to an opposition with Venus, the planet of values, late tonight, it doesn?t pay to goof off or shirk responsibilities. Although we may think the easy way is the way to go, it?s not likely to show itself and even if it does, it won?t be the most rewarding path, at least not today. Neither a boss nor a lover/partner is going to feel impressed if they think we are just going through the motions.
The Capricorn Moon expects to work hard and be fairly compensated. As you go about your daily business be aware when people do a good job, no matter at what level. We hope for respect and reward. Many equate job and performance with value and self-respect. Recognizing someone for a job well done is high praise under a Capricorn Moon. Try to realize the real value of something whether it?s an object or a service; and make it a point to not under or overvalue yourself or others. Honesty and integrity will be much appreciated.
Daily Muse: In politics as in philosophy, my tenets are few and simple. The leading one of which, and indeed that which embraces most others, is to be honest and just ourselves and to exact it from others, meddling as little as possible in their affairs where our own are not involved. If this maxim was generally adopted, wars would cease and our swords would soon be converted into reap hooks and our harvests be more peaceful, abundant, and happy. (George Washington ? Moon in Capricorn.)

Full Moon Eclipse in Capricorn
Moon goes Void of Course 2:38pm enters Aquarius Wednesday 2:19am
Lunar Eclipse at 24?Capricorn 2:38pm
There is nothing superficial or lightweight about today?s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn. But that is not to say there is anything ominous or scary about it either. Let?s just say, profound. Daily Muse: Everything that has ever happened to me that has been important has not been something that I've hoped for, or looked for, or manipulated ? it?s all been predicated on my ability to take a new road when it presented itself and to go with it. (Susan Sarandon ? Moon in Capricorn)
WENSDAY
July 17
Moon in Capricorn/Aquarius
Void of Course Moon enters Aquarius at 2:19am
The Moon leaves responsible Capricorn and eases into visionary Aquarius in early morning. Aquarius doesn?t mind being provocative or drawing outside the lines which is very likely to happen today with the Moon squaring the Aquarian ruler, Uranus, and forming a confrontational opposition to Mars in Leo. Although we are looking for friendship and support, we may feel like loners or outcasts today.
Yesterday?s Lunar Eclipse likely stirred up some deep feelings, ignited inspiration, and nurtured a passion; and yet today?s aspects feel like interference rather than encouragement. If you aren?t getting the kudos for your ideas you think you deserve and want, don?t be quick to be confrontational. If others are poking holes, take the time to do your homework and strengthen your position and resolve. Maybe your plan of action needs some work! That being said; don?t let an overbearing individual or bully talk you out of an idea your heart is set on.
Daily Muse: Whenever you take a step forward, you are bound to disturb something. (Indira Gandhi ? Moon in Capricorn)
THURSDAY
July 18
Moon in Aquarius
Moon goes Void of Course 8:53am enters Pisces Friday 2:19pm
Today we find the friendship, camaraderie, and even romance we have been longing for and maybe missing this week. The Moon in mental Aquarius finds a soul of like mind, or maybe more, as it makes a harmonious connection with Jupiter in adventurous and hopeful Sagittarius. With Venus also aligning with spiritual, forgiving, compassionate and creative Neptune, love and romance are back in style. It?s easier to overlook perceived transgressions by others and even begin to appreciate views and ways different from our own.
All may not be perfect, but it?s easier to pick and choose our battles today, engaging with good humor in a lively discussion and taking differences of opinion lightly. The energy today is favorable for creativity and projects that require imagination and vision.
Daily Muse: I love leaving the door open to good ideas. I love the collaborative swirl. I get charged by problem-solving, usually under some kind of stress - the sun is going down, and we have eight minutes, and we have to solve it. Great things come out of it. (Ron Howard ? Moon in Capricorn)
FRIDAY
July 19
Moon in Aquarius/Pisces
Void of Course Moon enters Pisces at 2:19pm
We?re feeling sensitive and possibly vulnerable, confused or muddled today with the Moon diving into the watery and mysterious depths of Pisces and Mercury retrograding back into water sign Cancer. Think of a water color painting or one of the Impressionists like Monet, Degas or Renoir. Ideas might be clearly expressed but through a filter that is more easily deciphered by the heart. The hard edges seem to disappear and things are viewed in a different light and with an alternate mind-set. People are much more likely to be subjective rather than objective today, so don?t waste your time arguing the fine points. Can you really judge someone?s feelings as right or wrong?
With Mercury retrograding in the sign of home and family, we might be feeling nostalgic and sentimental. As part of Mercury?s plan, we might need to re-examine some feelings from the past few weeks. Who better than family to serve as an emotional trigger? Retrogrades can serve by allowing us to see a situation from a new angle and with new information and insight. It could get a bit wet and sloppy today, but as long as we are prepared for it, we should sail through with grace.
Daily Muse: Luck? I don?t know anything about luck. I?ve never banked on it and I?m afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: hard work - and realizing what opportunity is and what isn?t. (Lucille Ball ? Moon in Capricorn)
SATURDAY
July 20
Moon in Pisces
The art of collaboration and cooperation is called for today with the Moon in receptive Pisces. No matter how independent we may feel, we are aware of the multitude of ways we are connected to others. Not just to loved ones, but our interdependence on human, animal, and mineral counterparts as well. We might be thinking about our Carbon Footprint, or be more curious about what happens to all those recyclables? Do they really avoid the landfill and become something new and useful?
With the Moon approaching a square with adventurous Jupiter, we are also reminded to discern the difference between quality and quantity. More of something is not necessarily better or more satisfying, (unless of course we are talking about dark chocolate!)
The complementary strengths and needs of nurturing Cancer and pragmatic Capricorn remain as strong and pervasive influences at this time. Today calls for balancing the demands of work with the responsibilities of home and family, and understanding the two are tied to each other. On the zodiac wheel they are opposites that continually struggle, complement, and balance each other. Late tonight the Moon forms a harmonizing alliance with Saturn (ruler of Capricorn and currently in Capricorn) which likely lightens the burden of responsibilities or makes the rules and limits in our lives make more sense and easier to follow.
Very early on Sunday morning, 1:30 Pacific Time, Venus moves into a perfect opposition to Pluto. No doubt we might be feeling this impending transformation of values including attitudes about love and money, throughout the day and evening. This energy can be manipulative with a compulsive and obsessive streak. ?I?ll love you until the day I die!? Just be aware, as relationships, especially intimate sexual ones, are likely to be intense!
Daily Muse: Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. (Robert F. Kennedy ? Moon, Venus, Jupiter and South Node in Capricorn)
SUNDAY
July 21
Moon in Pisces
The intensity of the Venus opposition to Pluto hit its peak very early this morning, but there could be remnants of the fallout reverberating throughout the day. Sleeping dreams may have included powerful messages or symbols. Don?t be surprised if some of your priorities are shifting. You might find an abrupt aversion to spending time with anything or anyone who you may suddenly realize is not part of your plan or path. This might sound harsh, but no-nonsense Pluto can easily expose dysfunctional behaviors and throw a new light on a relationship or situation. Although it may seem sudden to us, the truth has been gradually dawning on our minds and hearts. Pluto just gives us the extra push to put the pieces together to form a new picture.
At 5:35 am (Pacific Time) retrograding Mercury meets up with the Sun in Cancer. This marks the mid-point of the retrograde pattern and also is important as awareness often increases. When Mercury and the Sun combine energies thinking and communication is highlighted. Even the most quiet among us might become a Chatty Cathy talking about a wide range of topics including sensitive feelings (with both the Sun and Mercury in sensitive Cancer). We might want to spend the day catching up on e-mail, our social media sites, connecting with people who are important to us, writing, or reading.
The Moon in imaginative and compassionate Pisces makes favorable connections to Pluto, Venus and Mercury throughout the day. These help us reassemble our thoughts, connect the dots, and feel more hopeful about finding meaningful patterns in our lives. Whether we are deciding to change direction, off-load some responsibilities, delegate some tasks to others, or renew a commitment, we feel excited about the future possibilities. And with the Sun and Mercury in close connection, it?s likely we are talking about them and sharing with others.
Daily Muse: How you spend your energy is ultimately what creates who you are. (Susan Sarandon ? Moon in Capricorn)
