Astrological Highlights for the week:
Harvest Full Moon in Pisces on Friday night; Mercury and Venus both leave Virgo and enter Libra on Saturday morning.
Friday by far is the most lively and dynamic day this week, maybe even for the month to come. Excitement starts building early as we move toward a glorious Harvest Full Moon in Pisces on Friday evening (9:33 pm Pacific Time). We sense this could be an auspicious day when it begins with Mercury?s hookup with Venus in Virgo. Hand-in-hand they ponder their imminent leap into Libra on Saturday; but first, they still have a mission ? to be part of the energetic pattern of the Full Moon.
The momentum on Friday increases shortly after noon (Pacific Time) when the Sun conspires with transformational Pluto in Capricorn. If ever there is a harbinger pointing to the possibility of constructive change in our lives, this is it. As we look at the horizon of opportunities, it?s as if we suddenly recognize the pattern that belongs to us; it?s calling our name. Our destiny is a ship moving undeniably in our direction! (Perhaps it?s more like someone at the airport with a big sign imprinted with our name waiting patiently for us to arrive and direct us to our destiny.) Is your higher self waiting for you to respond to its calling?
Friday night the star of the show is surely the Harvest Full Moon in mesmerizing Pisces. Although typically Pisces can be introverted and shy, this is the Moon in all her glory, fully reflecting the light of the Sun. She is an undeniable messenger to us about being willing to channel our inner divine light, guidance, talents and strengths without defense or limitation.
Sitting beside the Moon is Neptune, the powerful ruler of Pisces and the planet of transcendence. Mars the warrior and planet of action is sitting right next to the Sun and therefore the pairing of Sun and Mars is opposing the pairing of Moon and Neptune. Pluto the transformer in staid and grounding Capricorn stabilizes the Mars Sun combination while harmonizing also with the Moon and Neptune. Astrologers can argue about the implications of these combinations until the cows come home!
Here?s my (optimistic) take on the situation. Astrological texts are full of the woes and warnings of Mars opposing Neptune ? rich imagination and overly developed fantasies leading to delusional perceptions, inability to follow through, vulnerability, and oversensitivity. Yes, this can all be true. However, with this Full Moon picture we also find the very stabilizing hand of Pluto making it possible, maybe even probable we can harness both the energy of Mars and the imaginative genius of Neptune. Maybe we won?t follow through on the revelations of this Full Moon; but then again, maybe we will. Perhaps we will feel compelled; we?ll answer the call.
This Full Moon energy feels like a bright and beautiful celebrity on stage. The beauty comes from the willingness to be in the right place at the right time and to offer one?s whole being in complete service to the process. Remember the Moon has no inner light; she is illuminated by the Sun and in her willingness to be the perfect reflection, she is demonstrating her destiny and living up to her potential. When we identify our own natural talents, abilities, and tendencies and willingly allow the divine light to shine through us, in essence ?use us?, we too are shining beacons, the center of attention, and the life of the party.
In summary, this Full Moon is ripe with messages and meanings for those willing to listen. It?s not about creating fame, attention seeking, or appearing intelligent, sexy, glamorous, or being a social manipulator. (The Moon?s power lies in her ability to be exactly what she is.) It?s about rising to our potential, blooming where we are planted, and being the very best we can be.
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.
MONDAY
September 9
Moon in Capricorn/Aquarius
Moon Goes Void of Course 1:30am enters Aquarius at 2:24pm
After a lively energy at the Cosmic Dance on Sunday evening, Monday feels relatively serene with a void-of-course Moon. With the emotional drama dialed back a notch this Capricorn Moon is quietly getting its ducks in a row behind the scenes this morning. Even with a VOC Moon we can move an existing project forward or consider plans for a future one.
In mid-afternoon things are not quite so easy-going when the Moon enters head-strong and rebellious Aquarius. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but we might expect a snag or two as we may be feeling somewhat out of synch with others and our environment.
The Sun is moving steadily towards a pre-arranged opposition with dreamy Neptune just after midnight Pacific Time (Tuesday morning). This might contribute to a feeling of being confused, not in the right place or time, or generally ungrounded. We often feel very intuitive under the influence of this energy, but our rational minds are agitated at the lack of expected consistency.
Paraphrasing an old saying, ?You have to give up who you are in order to become what you want to be.? This isn?t an admonition we aren?t enough already, but an encouragement to allow ourselves to continually grow and evolve. We don?t expect to wear the same clothes, or have the same desires we did as six-year olds, right? When the ego (represented by the Sun) becomes disoriented by the dreams of Neptune, instead of fighting to hang onto our current version of self, we might want to allow the vision of Neptune to show us a future possibility. As the planet of transcendence, Neptune can help us move past current limitations and imagine a broader and more expansive picture for our lives.
Daily Muse: Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature. (Tom Robbins)
TUESDAY
September 10
Moon in Aquarius
Moon Goes Void of Course 10:22pm enters Pisces THURSDAY at 2:52am
The Cosmos seems to be conspiring to keep us under the dreamy spell of the early morning opposition between the Sun in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces. Even with the Moon in revolutionary Aquarius the cosmic ocean is particularly undisturbed with no lunar or planetary interactions until late evening. Even so we are not exactly adrift, but we might have to dig deep to tap into motivation. Fortunately, we might find we are reaping the rewards of previous efforts. Foundations already in place continue to support us today and even bear fruit.
The only significant lunar aspect is this evening when the Moon finds inspiration and maybe even an adventurous outlet with a connection to Jupiter. This might be a call to do something out of the ordinary. Who says you can?t go out for coffee or an ice cream at midnight? A late night hookup with a friend, movie, or a nightcap might be a pleasant reminder ? routines can be changed, even broken. Besides, don?t ever forget you made up the rules!
Daily Muse: Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit. (E.E. Cummings (Sun in Libra with Full Moon in Aries)
WENSDAY
September 11
Moon in Aquarius
Void of Course enters Pisces Thursday 2:52am
The Moon in independent Aquarius is certainly a loner today moving void-of-course since late last night. With no other planetary interactions on the agenda for today, it?s likely we are plotting our own course and turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to others. This strategy may work; but then again, maybe not. If you are involved in a solitary activity or pursuit, maybe it doesn?t matter; but if cooperation or support is a key element to your success today, you might want to at least consider another approach.
Aquarian Moon energy can be somewhat of an enigma. It can be rebellious, and detached or alternately friendly, persuasive, and democratic. In its heart of hearts, Aquarius is the sign of brotherhood with an undeniable need to work towards social change and humanitarian ideals. Are your intentions and goals as high-minded?
The Aquarian Moon is resourceful, original, and innovative. If at first you don?t succeed, go to Plan B.
Early Thursday morning, Mars in methodical Virgo squares Jupiter in adventurous and expansive Sagittarius. Throughout Wednesday evening, we will feel this energy building and may feel even more insistent about getting our personal needs met and getting our way. Although Virgo can be naturally cautious, Mars is a planet of action and aggression. Beware of resorting to judgmental thinking or verbal criticism to manipulate a situation. Chances are it will backfire and will not give you the result you want.
Throughout the day and evening, try not to let arrogance, or stubbornness derail an otherwise good plan or agenda. Keep your sense of humor and sense of perspective. Tomorrow is another day.
Daily Muse: Humanity takes itself too seriously. It is the world's original sin. If the cave-man had known how to laugh, History would have been different. (Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray ? Sun in Libra square Jupiter in Capricorn)
THURSDAY
September 12
Moon in Aquarius/Pisces
Moon enters Pisces at 2:52am
The Moon?s move into sensitive and imaginative Pisces in the early morning hours helps take the sharp edges off the jarring square between Mars and Jupiter which occurred long before dawn. Like her opposite sign Virgo, Pisces thrives with private alone time in which we can dream and tap into our higher selves and intuition.
Since this Moon doesn?t make any connections with planets until mid-afternoon, it?s advisable to follow her lead ? play the hermit and shut the world out for a few hours. This morning and early afternoon might be devoted to reading, meditation, spiritual disciplines, time outdoors in nature, or creative hobbies and activities. Even if it is for just a few moments, get away from it all so you can hear your own thoughts. As the ?psychic sponge? of the zodiac, Pisces can become overwhelmed by her natural tendency to be heavily influenced by others, their emotions, moods, thoughts and needs. Especially if you find yourself unable to identify your own needs, desires, and thoughts, it?s time to take a break and regroup.
This afternoon when the Moon finds a friend in Uranus, a genuine spark of creativity strikes. Channel inspiration into a favorite talent or hobby or enjoy an especially entertaining moment with a friend or loved one.
Daily Muse: I'm an introvert... I love being by myself, love being outdoors, love taking a long walk with my dogs and looking at the trees, flowers, the sky? I have to be alone very often. I'd be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That's how I refuel. (Audrey Hepburn ? Moon in Pisces)
FRIDAY
September 13
Harvest Moon in Pisces
Full Moon 21? Pisces 9:33pm
Moon Goes Void of Course 9:33pm enters Aries Saturday at 3:32pm
This by far is the most lively and dynamic day so far this week. Excitement is building as we move toward a glorious Harvest Full Moon in Pisces this evening (9:33 pm Pacific Time). We sense this could be an auspicious day when it begins with Mercury?s hookup with Venus in Virgo. Hand-in-hand they ponder their imminent leap into Libra tomorrow. She is an undeniable messenger to us about being willing to channel our inner divine light, guidance, talents and strengths without defense or limitation. A Mars Neptune opposition (Virgo to Pisces) adds a layer of complexity to this energy, as does the influence of Pluto in Capricorn. Many different manifestations are certainly possible!
Bottom line ? this is likely to be a very powerful and auspicious Full Moon. Revelations about our inner strengths, talents and abilities are possible, even probable. If you are ready and willing to step up your game, be the best you can be and allow yourself to be guided by your higher self, step right up. You are in the right place at the right time to be profoundly changed.
Daily Muse: I have a dream?Faith is taking the first step when you don?t see the whole staircase. (Martin Luther King Jr. ? Moon in Pisces)
SATURDAY
September 14
Moon in Pisces/Aries
Moon enters Aires at 3:32pm
Mercury Enters Libra 12:15am
Venus Enters Libra 6:43am
Mercury the messenger and Venus the planet that resonates with our values both leave pragmatic and analytical Virgo for the partnership sign of Libra this morning. Venus is the planetary ruler of Libra so we know she?s quite at home in this sign of harmony, balance, equity, justice, artistry, diplomacy, and grace.
While Mercury is in Libra not only do we have love and romance on the brain, but also expect your thoughts to turn to issues of justice and fairness. After all, Libra is a Cardinal (initiating) mental Air sign. Although Libra is notorious for sitting on the fence, and dislikes making decisions, it?s because this sign is so adept at listening to and understanding both sides of an issue. In addition, Libra leans towards good manners, being gracious, creative, artistic, diplomatic, fair and balanced. No need to ruffle feathers with silly disagreements!
While Venus is in her home sign we can expect an emphasis on love, romance and partnership. She doesn?t like to be alone! We are more interested in compromise and peacemaking than in making a point. We are interested in making ourselves attractive which includes not only a fashionable exterior but a pleasant and refined inner disposition.
Don?t expect the finer and more high-minded values of Libra to be on display today with the Moon in the opposite sign of Aries. This feisty and individual Moon naturally resists compromise and finds challenge and even fighting more enticing and sexy than diplomacy. It might be a sort of rough start for Mercury and Venus in Libra, but they will find their groove soon enough.
Daily Muse: Yours is the light by which my spirit's born; you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars?Unless you love someone, nothing else makes sense.
(E.E Cummings ? Sun, Venus, Saturn and Chiron in Libra)
SUNDAY
September 15
Moon in Aries
The Moon in Aries may have an ambitious agenda today, even if it is a weekend. As a sign of independence, expect that people might lean towards having their own agendas rather than falling in line with group goals or plans. Family has a strong draw on hearts and minds today, but nevertheless, people may challenge each other for dominance and for the privilege of calling the shots.
This evening kids may resist completing homework assignments and adults refuse to accept the responsibilities ahead as the Moon in Aries conflicts with stern and unyielding Saturn. In some ways we are all kids at heart and flinch as we come to terms with not having total control over our lives.
Be gentle with yourself and others.
Daily Muse: Our lives are not as limited as we think they are; the world is a wonderfully weird place; consensual reality is significantly flawed; no institution can be trusted, but love does work; all things are possible; and we all could be happy and fulfilled if we only had the guts to be truly free and the wisdom to shrink our egos and quit taking ourselves so damn seriously. (Tom Robbins)
