Plant Spells
Not only do we use herbs and other plants in our spells but we can also use them as the spells themselves.
This is a good method to use when working for long-term change, like prosperity, health or protection, and also for use when crafting the spell for another, as a potted plant makes an attractive gift in its own right. While you could set the spell in action at the stage of planting seeds, it is often better to start it off when actually potting up a small plant so that you can ensure that you actually have a healthy plant.
Select your plant according to its magical uses and with the person in mind, as there's little point in giving them something which you know they dislike. For protection try Hydrangea, Hyacinth, Lavender or Primrose. For prosperity try Basil, Honesty or Violet. Geranium, Marjoram and Tansy are all good for bringing good health, and there are many other examples in this site and in books. If you can, select a container in an appropriate color, .like green for prosperity. Plant the spell at the New Moon and water it in with collected rainwater. Once you have done this ask the Goddess and the God to give their blessings on both plant and the spell. Give it at least a week to settle into its new container before giving it to another. If they are not skilled at plant care, also give them some simple directions to tend it, as a dead plant has no magic.
