I just watched a show on TLC called My Unique Family. It was about a wiccan family. They are in a small town in Massachussettes (did I spell that right?) The town is dominantly christian. It showed how people in the town felt about having The First Church Of Wicca There. Of course people weren't keen on the idea. Having somehting like this on tv that I feel properly depicts us as witches almost made me want to cry. Why can't there be more stuff like this to let people know that we are not the "Devil" worshippers that people think we are?

How did I miss this show?! I love TLC! Laughing

There may not be a lot out there in the world of media to depict witches the way this show did, but I would call it a step in the right direction. Its good to see other people showing an interest in Wicca and contribute to the wrold. Kudos to TLC and the family helping to show the world what it means to be a real witch Smile

She said the reason she was wearing the priest garb was that every religeon should have a representaion of their religeon. Though on the show, my christians thought she was desecrating the white collar because it was suposed to be a christian thing.

I stumbled upon the show by chance. I was pleasantly surprised by how humanely and professionally it was done. Yes, it is too bad that such portrayals are the exception rather than the norm. Ten years ago, the same program might not have been aired. We've come a long way, babies. Only one thing puzzled me: The preistess presented herself as a minister, as if trying to fit in with her counterparts in the more accepted religions. That was her prerogative, since she was ordained clergy, but it was a little puzzling. I wish the show had been two hours long instead of one.

Here is the link to the First Church of Wicca, the subject of the documentary.
