I was just wondering. This may sound a bit strange, but a friend of mine eats catnip. She uses it as an herb in her cooking and she hardly gets any colds. Is it safe to take catnip internally as you would any other herb in your cooking? Also, I read online for a cold remedy to add some catnip, peppermint, eucalyptus, and/or chamomile in a warm bath to help break up a stuffy nose. It didn't say how much exactly, but, if I was to use them, how much would be strong enough? I have a cold right now and besides using Day Quill, I am trying to find something that I can use to help break up the stuff nose. Most of the excess mucus is gone. But, all that is left now is a stuffy nose and a soar throat from coughing so much. Right now, I don't have any honey on hand, so is there something else I can use?

Blessings,

Try using the BOS, there is info there about Catnip and many other wonderful herbs.

Catnip is edible, and is a member of the mint family. You don't want to use it if you are pregnant, and as with all herbs, you should always check with your doctor before using any herb in a medicinal way.

Just type in what you are looking for in the search feature here at the right-hand corner of the our community.

We have a wealth of info at your fingertips.

Hope you feel better soon, colds are truly a pain in the arse!

Catnip tea is very useful for many different things. When I make healing satchets for the bath I don't measure things, so I can't really tell you use ___ teaspoons of ____. But, I wanted to post and say follow your intuition when your mixing up your herbs. If your using a reusable tea bag, put your herbs in a bit at a time until you have as much as you want in the bag.
If your using a washcloth that your tieing up, fill the middle of the cloth with your herbs.
You will notice that you get pretty close to an equal amount of herbs no matter how you do it. Or at least I tend to.

In the BOS though you may find that someone did actually measure things out and can give you an exact measurement.

I hope you feel better soon. Catnip tea and chamomile tea on its own will help soothe your throat also. I give it to my kids when they are sick and also when they are getting a bit on the wild side. lol I personally prefer the bath satchets as I don't care for herbal tea. But, either way, the herbs will really help.
