Just a question really has anyone had problems getting onto this site using AOL ?
The reason I ask is, for some reason, if using AOL I try to get onto this site it blocks me with a 403 error code saying the server cannot access the index. simply it wont let me on the only way around is to use my other browser options.
Is there a problem with AOL?
If anyone can shed any light on the subject it would be much appreiciated

Many thanks.

There must be a problem with AOL. Have you dumped your cookies, temporary files and restarted your computer lately?

Checked for spyware and viruses?

We haven't had any problems with AOL.

I have this same problem when I try to use my work computer to access the site. It used to work just fine, but last week I started getting that access denied note. We use Internet Explorer at work, and it's the same thing I use at home, so I don't know why it started happening. I'm just glad I can still get here on my home computer. I wondered if it had something to do with the new, speeded up version of OdSS. Although I love the speed of it now!

I can get on just fine but one of my friends is now having this problem. She's never been to the site until she tried a few days ago and gets the error 403 Forbidden

Any tips? she has scanned her computer, dumped cookies, temp internet files, rebooted, and even added paganliving.org to her trusted sites list.

Here is a definition

http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E403.html

Please remember that you must ALWAYS come to the home page www.paganliving.org, when trying to access our community. This is done as a security measure. If you have a page "saved" as a favorite and try to access it without logging in first, you will recieve the 403 Forbidden message.

Duming your cookies and temporary files, and then coming back to our home page should rectify the problem.

Best thing to do is if you add a bookmark/favorite make it either the home page, or the log in page.

There are many reasons a person can get a 403 error. If its a work machine there is probably not much you can do about it. It could be a system setting. ie You are running WRQ's AtGuard personal firewall software, or other Security, Download Assistant, or Web Accelerator software. Another possibility is your works firewall, and they wont let anyone on our site. Another reason is Nuke Sentinal has blocked your ip. The first 2 issues I can't help ya with. The last one I may be able to resolve IF you can give me some info. On windows, goto Start then run, type in cmd. You will be at a dos command prompt, type in ipconfig. Write down, and send me, the IP Address, and Default Gateway, and if it was working at some point before, the approximate date it stopped working.

Before sending me the above info, goto another machine in the office and see if you can get to the site...

From your work machine...goto IPChicken, write down you IP addy, and let me know what it is. At one point where you able to connect from work, or has it always not worked there?

Thanks for all the great work you do here Battery!

I log onto ODSS at work everyday, but yesterday I got the Forbidden message and haven't been able to get back on ever since. I was even logged on when it happened... I was in the middle of updating my Journal, and when I pressed Save Entry, I got the 403. I thought maybe it was being blocked by work all of a sudden, but really don't know. Any ideas?

Thanks again

Oh, sorry, no it's not working yet. I'm posting from home now, the problem happens at my work computer. I never had a problem before, and then all of a sudden I just couldn't get in anymore.

Ok, I got locked out of my home computer last night (again, Forbidden), but after doing ipconfig/release/renew I'm back in business. I'll try that at work and see if that fixes it too.

I figured out what happened though, at both my computers. It happened while I was posting in the Our Journals section. I was typing in the journal, then when I clicked "Submit" I was redirected to an FBI site. After that, when I pressed Back I was Forbidden by the server. Then after that I wasn't able to get back in (until I renewed my IP).

----

Ok, adding that I renewed my IP at work and now am able to get back in. Answered my own question Embarassed Laughing Thanks anyway!

Merry Meet All:

I've been receiving the 403 error message for months now. I have an extremely hard time gettting to this site despite the fact it used to be a breeze.

I have dumped cookies, cleaned temp files both on and off line, cleaned disc, defragged, run securityware blah blah blah.

This evening my puter launched a scan disc on its' own and deleted two filed called (missed the first part) 72. I can now get back in. Will this last? I dunno.

I have had my server on the phone with me tearing the guts of my DOS apart and still I lose this site. If someone could come up with an answer or solution I would be very grateful. I can reached at kimmieca2 [at] hotmail [dot] com Please subject the answer Error 403 or I won't open it.

Gods I hope we can find a solution for this.

Thank you very much,

Blessing from the North,

Kestrelwing
