I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I got so sucked into all the wonderful resources here, I totally spaced it.

My name is Jennie, no magical name (as of yet). I came to this path and self dedicated back in 2004. I started out with the Wiccan path, after reading solitary witch. I have gravatated to a more all purpose pagan after finally joining a couple of social pagan groups here in town.

I was directed to this site by a good friend. I don't know what her name is on this board, but hopefully we'll bump into each other now that she is home and has a computer set up. We will miss her here in Alaska.

I'm 48, rediscovering life after ending a 26 year relationship in 2004 (yes there is a link to that and my path).

That's it for now, it's almost time to start work and the frown on discussion groups during working hours ( )

A week or so ago, I tried to provide a donation through my paypal account. I'm new to this, and have had this problem with several other sites . . . even though it's paypal, its still looking for a credit card. Personally, credit cards are EVIL ( Confused ) and that's the reason I put money in the paypal account every so often.

Is there a way to send some paypal money without a credit card being attached to the paypal account?

Hello and welcome to the family bigolalaskan !

Glad you dropped in to say hello, and we are delighted to have you with us!

I would go to the PayPal site and discover what you need to do in order to have4 an account without a credit card. I do not know your circumstances, so I feel that would be the best road to take. Thank you for thinking of donating.....that means the world to our community!

Hope to see more of you here on the boards in the days to come!

Blessings Bright and Dark,

Welcome, from southern Indiana. For the past three years, I have been a member of this group (if we can count its previous incarnation, Full Moon Paradise). I fnd it a great resource for learning and growing--and entertainment. I trust that you will as well. I don't know about your environment, but folks are rather conservative around here, and the internet is a great way to overcome one's geographical handicap.

Blessings.

I think what I'll do is go through paypal instead of the link here. That may work. It's a pain to live without credit cards, but sometimes one has to accept their limitations, and my limitations include no credit cards, no open loan accounts, and no checks. Only cash and billpay.

As for Alaska: We have a very open community here. You can be openly pagan without fear of reprisal. Yes, we have bigots and idiots, actually large pockets of them, but if you don't get in their face, they generally stay out of yours.

I have been here 30 years. Yes, we see Moose on a daily basis, in our yards, eating grass along major highways / roads, even downtown we had what we call Bullwinkle who likes to snooze in the winter in the courtyard outside our 19 story office building.

Never seen a bear, never caught a salmon. However, in May, several schools each year have to close the playground because bears are on it . . . Bears and garbage have made it so you get a 100 buck ticket if you leave your trash out. The spirit of Yogi is alive and well in Anchorage.

On the upside from the winter (not really that bad -- it's long, but real cold only lasts 2-6 weeks) there are no snakes, lizards, and if it's gonna kill ya, you can smell it coming (generally) !!!

But the summers are to kill for. Yeah this year is cold and cloudy (Hot this year may be 65 degrees) but its light most of the night. Soltice here is outstanding with 19 hours of daylight . . .

Cheers

Nice to see a fellow alaskan here. Grew up in Muldoon. But have spent most of my life in various villages of Alaska due to my employment. I am currently two hundred miles west of you. Hope that you enjoy being here... I love it ..so many things to contemplate. Where I am the bears are even civilized and stay out of the house at least. This weekend I'm trying my hand at making soap from bear fat. My coworkers drew the line at rendering down bear fat in the house so I get to go down to the river and do it the old fashioned way, over a fire with a big cauldron. I just hope that cinnamon will cut the smell with the finished product
