I have been only able to use what grows naturally in the wild and am trying to get a "crop" of usable herbs that are not natural to Alaska for my cabinet. Indoor planting is not a viable option for me and summer is here with 24 hours of sunlight but a colder than average temperature.

I appreciate all the responses. At this time, depending on whose interpretation, I am in the zones 5/6 or 7. This year we are averaging about 10 degrees colder than normal. Last night the temp got down to 38F. Today so far we have gotten up to 54F. Last week it actually got to 64F for two days. Winter is an average of 0F to -30F. Wind blows from the NNW about constantly at 10kt up to 70kt. And yes we get snow, it usually blows in and out, I rarely have seen it fall from the sky. My vegetable garden is in a "Cold Frame" with raised beds. The thermometer says its 62F in it. I have another LOG raised bed ready for planting but am real unsure as to what might thrive or at least grow cultivated instead of wild. When reading up on stuff everyone says they are the expert and no two agree. Most suggest growing in containers and I only have a 10' X 20' room for living space with one small window. Gets real discouraging. As I shared in my "Introduction" I have to really plan ahead for my location as there are no stores here with which to go to for another try if things fail. I may have to just keep planning and researching till next year.
