You can get ciupagi at Poland by Mail--www.polandbymail.com. I am of Polish decent and I get their catalog. Fantastic amber jewelry, Polish glassware, and Boleslawiec pottery too! They also have salt from the Wielicza salt mine that is great for baths.
All I know is it is a mountain hardwood. Maybe some of her friends there can get me some of it to make a staff or so out of? Going to ask anyway. It feels great, nice balance, but it is one of the ornamental ones. You can get the real sharp and dangerous ones. They are cheap there in U.S. dollars but shipping is high.
