First let me apologize if I post things in the wrong places at times.

Now for my questions.
1. What are the points? How do you get them and what are they used for?
2. I see Avatars with some names and none with others. Mine says no avatar selected but don't know how to get one.

I have searched the site trying to find these answers but can't find the answers. This info would be helpful in the section that tells how to find ones way around the castle.

I can help you a bit with the avatar part. At the top of the message board page is a bar with, profile, private messages, FAQ (this may answer a lot of questions), etc.
Go into your profile, at the bottom is a Avatar control section. You can select one from the site or you can load one of your own, it tells you the maximum size you can upload or use from such as photobucket or other program.

Hi Pen. Points roughly equate to the number of times you post in the forums. The points determine your rank. The greater the rank, the more points it take to get to the next rank. I believe currently that Novia has the highest rank in terms of points, and she is also a moderator. Although I have ODSS Mistress as my rank, the number of times I have posted are fewer than her, but Lady Elaine changed my rank when I became a moderator. Of course, Lady Elaine is our site queen in both stats and rank.

I wouldn't treat the point system as competitive. It's more of a cute way of determining an individuals activity on the board as well as their time as a member.

I could not concieve of a life without asking questions. Ask as many as you like; everyone learns both from reading the answer as well as formualting the answer. I could fill this site with my own questions. Additionally, every time I answer a questions, I am doing research and organizing my own knowledge in ways I never have before. I think the greatest way ODSS is an asset to me is providing me with people asking questions so that I can have the motivation to ressearch, think, and answer them.
