Have been looking thru this awesome site for the past few hours and
wanted to say how very impressed I am.  Lady Elaine....you have indeed
put alot of work into this site...!!!  I have done a few of these "nuke" sites
but never as big as this one.
Anyhow, most people call me Swampy...short for SwampWytch.  I am 49,
divorced and am caregiver to my mom, sister, and nephew in the very WET state of Florida.  I have been "out of the broom closet" for a few years, mainly following
the Wiccan path, but currently studying Druidry.
Am also president of Rock~N~Rescue Inc. a non-profit horse rescue.  We rehabilitate
and retrain the horses to be qualified for Mounted Search and Rescue.  At present
we have 3 horses, and will be getting 2 more in the next few days.
Looking forward to getting to make new friends here...

It is really hard sometimes when we first get them...the ones who have been starved and abused, but when they start gaining weight...and their trust in humans back it is nothing short of rewarding in every way possible.  
Horses have always been my "power" animal, and I am glad that I can do something for them...even if its just feeding them and loving them  unconditionally like they do in return.
So nice to meet you!!!

I appreciate the warm welcome....  
From time to time, I will drop a post about some of the
antics the horses and critters do.  The first rescue of 2007
is Sugar, a 2 yr old Palomino mare who was born 2 months
early and has a birth defect called bilatteral Contracted DDTF
which means the tendons above her front hooves make them curl
underneath so she walks on the tip part of her hooves, about like us
walking on the backs of our hands/wrists.  She developed arthritis
as well, and we are working now to raise the funds for her to have
surgery to correct it.  Hopefully she will be ridable after she recovers
but if not thats ok too.  She has really come along way from when we
first got her...she had been abused and didn't trust anyone.  Can't
blame her...

I am really totally impressed with this site...and appreciate the time
and effort Lady E has put into it.

and thank you for your kind words too....it really is rewarding
to be given the chance to make a difference in the lives of these
wonderful critters.   Getting majorly excited over the "new" mare
that will be arriving in a few days...she is ridable so that will be
a great plus.  Sugar may not be able to be ridden after she recovers
from her surgery, altho  I have this "feeling" that she is going to. I've seen
myself riding her, so with some help from the Goddess perhaps that will
become a reality. Sugar is such a trip, and she loves her little buddy Cynamyn
(a goat). She is recovering from a vicious attack by a couple dogs, and lost
one ear, and part of the other one....but she is doing great.

They really are some incredible animals aren't they?  I guess that is why I feel so
"empowered" when I am with them or around them.  And it's really funny when they get over their fear, and begin to think they are now a "lap" dog  lol.  
One example is Sugar...it took me a few months to figure her out, but she would turn around and have her "butt" facing me when I would try to pet her or touch her.  Thinking "oh crap, I am fixin to get kicked majorly", it turns out all she wanted was to have her "butt" scratched....lmao  She has completely done a 180 degree turn around from when she first arrived here.  It makes me feel good to know I am doing something right

yeppers  horses have been mentioned....lol
We have two more coming in few days...I will be getting a 24 yo "warmblood"
mare, which I understand is a REALLY big horse....ack!!!!!!!!!  lol  when I order the saddle for her, I am also gonna have to order a ladder too, because I am very short!!!
