I have a few questions to ask.  I am currently trying my best to find work.  I read a spell to get a job that instructed me to write the name of the company I applied to on a green candle and my name and the rune for victory on a red one.  The thing is I only have one green pillar candle.  Can I write everything on the green one and it still work?

Also I was wondering if anyone knows any incantations to bring good luck to my Boyfriend.  He really needs some good luck in his life.  He is waiting to hear from the bank about getting a credit card to pay the bills while he takes 3 weeks off work to train for a new job.  But he is worried he will not get it and will be stuck in the night mare job he is at.

The man he works for is mean tempered, cruel, and expects miracles from his employees but not paying them a living wage.  My boy friend crys half the time when he gets home from work and is constantly in pain from stress.  We are always pivoting right on the edge of losing the trailer, having the lights cut off, etc.  I want to help him but I don't know how except try to bring him some good luck.

I would prefer incantations because I have very little money for candles or crystals and am not sure where to buy them in this town anyway.  Also I am not very skillfull at following long comples rituals, I tend to be a scatter brain, but I need to help him some how.

Hi Indigo Faerie,

Please remember that a spell is a "prayer with tools." That's all. It is the intent that makes it work....you have to beleive in every cell of your body that this is actually something you have already recieved and is in your life. Any tool you have around you is fine, and even if you use no tools at all except for incense, that would be alright as well. The tools and props we use are more for our own benefit than that of the Creator....remember to keep healthy, rest when you can, and most importantly you cannot fix your partner's problems. Be there for him. But you can't fix it. He has to do that, and it seems as if he is dire need of speaking to friends, family and his coworkers about another situation in regards to his job.

Do not place all your eggs in one basket tho....even if he has to work two small part time jobs, wait tables, deliver pizza....whatever can cause the shift in energies to happen will work ....and this goes for you as well....you can try to be more open as to what you are physically capable of doing job-wise as well....desperate times call for desperate measures...no spell will work if you are not willing to put 110% of the hardwork into it....exhaust all your mundane avenues first....I know it will be difficult, been there, done that, have the t-shirt. LOL You both will be fine.

Use your imagination and your ability to daydream and fantasize. Don't think, "That's impossible; it can't be done." Think in possibilities. Rather than thinking of just one thing you could have that would satisfy you, think of many things...... Instead of imagining only one desirable outcome, ask yourself, "What is the best possible outcome that can occur?" After you have imagined the best possible outcome, push yourself to imagine an even better one.

Also be grateful for every breath you take. Make your meals an enjoyable experience by tasting each bite as if it is the first time. Take walks together and enjoy the outdoors, remember you still have each other. Revel in what you DO Have.

All will be just as it should be....

Blessings Bright and Dark,

Ditto on what she said!

One thing, even is all's you can do is draw a candle, then ya know what, it's a candle. Imaginer one in your minds eye, and it becomes your candle.

Like LE said spell casting is no more than prayers and wishes with props.

Great words Lady E and Novia.  Law of attraction, what we have in our mind and what we focus on the most is what we draw to ourselves.  See yourself starting work at the new job, know that you are good enough to have it.  Look at all the positive things in your life, even if they are small everyday things, show gratitude for all you have and more will come.

Good luck to you and your boyfriend.  Everything in its place and time.

Indigo_Faerie,

Everyone summed up the intent part of the spell for you, so I'll just stick to the materials.  I recently performed a job spell, and got exactly what I needed at the time I needed it.  I am guessing from your question that you are most concerned with details, so I'll describe precisely what I did.  As you mentioned your resources are limited, feel free to substitute any part with an equivalent.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  Normally, I do not like going this in depth about personal spell work, but I sympathize with you.   I’ll describe the motions, but the intent and feeling is up to you.  Eventually, I will probably copy this under that sand garden thread, since it is a bit long.

First, I have to mention that my altar is a bit unusual, so some of my descriptions will sound weird.  I use a big earthenware bowl of sand as part of my spells, which I describe in the Young Pagan forum of the board, along with some cheaper spell substitutes you might be interested in.

My altar is my fireplace hearth.  On the left back, I have a pewter goblet with water.  The front left is a small sand-filled cauldron I put a candle in.  The right back side is a large brandy snifter filled with stones.  The front is my incense burner.   In the middle of the altar, I have my “sand garden”, which is regular sand infused with prosperity herbs, such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, rose petals, and allspice.  I also crushed a piece of mica I found and mixed it in the sand.  I have also mixed in my hair and finger nails to personalize all spells I caste to me.  By no means do you need this, but this a central tool I use for magick.

As for the other materials I used for the spell:

Athame (which for me is a glass pen I own)
1 green votive candle
1 one tea candle
Cinnamon/Spice stick incense
Cinnamon Essential Oil
Assorted stones, including: 4 Quartz, 1 Pyrite, 1 Unpolished Emerald
A circle of small moonstones I strung on a cord
Nine Stands of my Hair
Assorted loose herbs: dillweed, ground dragons blood, and ground fenugreek
A printout of the job description
(Note that all stones and candles were cleansed and charged with sunlight.  I charged these and the herbs before the spell.)

The spell was performed on a Thursday during a waxing moon, but I did not take planetary hours in to consideration.  I performed the spell in the evening.

I sat before my altar, and anointed the goblet, the cauldron, the brandy snifter, the incense burner, and the sand bowl with cinnamon oil by taking my finger dipped in cinnamon oil and drawing it around the lip of each once clockwise.  I then dressed both candles with the same oil (look in the BOS to read how to do this).  I placed the tea light in the cauldron.  On the green votive, after anointing it, I write my initials and a money sign with my athame on to the candle.  In the sand bowl, I wrote my spell with my athame, which I will not rewrite verbatim here, but will tell you what would be a good idea to include:
• Make certain to reference money specifically
• Ask for the Divine’s assistance in helping you obtain the ideal job “for you and your situation”
• Add a clause that no one should be harmed in the process of the spell
After writing this in the sand, I wrote a giant money sign over it.

I then put the votive in the center of the bowl.  Around the votive, I made a circle with my string of moonstone.  Around the circle, I made a six-pointed star with the stones.  I used the emerald for the top point, the pyrite for the bottom, and the quartz for the remaining four.  Using the stick incense, I lit the end with the tea light, used the incense to light the votive, and put the incense in its holder.  I then sprinkled the dillweed, fenugreek, and dragons blood over the candle.

Now, I began concentrating on my spell/prayer.  During this, I took out the printing of the job posting, rolled it into a tube and wrapped my hair around to tie it.  I anointed the middle with cinnamon oil.  While speaking my spell, I moved the paper in a clockwise circular motion over the altar three times.  I then placed it upon the front of my altar and continued to mediate.

What this spell is designed to do is to test out specific jobs, so to speak.  I was using the Divine’s judgment of me and my situation to decide the best job.  When you are out of work, and desperate for anything, you feel the need to grab on to anything offered.  Although this sounds like the necessary thing to do when you are in that situation, I rationally know that this was not wise.  Essentially, this spell requires you to place your trust in the Divine, and I still believe that is one of the reasons it was so successful for me.  When you word a spell very specific to your desires, especially when you are in a very stressful situation, you may get what you want at the time, but not what is best for you.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I have decided that rather than going with some one elses spell and trying to modify it to fit with my resources to do my own.  The incantation came to me last night in bed.

I have some rain water mixed with sea salt I can use to purify the area before I light my cnadle and say my incantation. and some incencense I can burn.

The candle is huge so it might take me a few days to burn it all the way down.  But thats ok, I'm here all day anyway.

Like I said, thanks for all the suggestiond, they helped.

That's great, Indigo_Faerie.  In most minor spell, doing what feels right is the best thing.

I hope things work out for you and your boyfriend.

Many blessings.

I have good news.  I preformed my spell yesterday and one of the gas stations I put my application in at asked me to come in tomorrow.  I had pictured myself working at the day care center but I am not going to complain!  Besides, designing lesson plans was never my strong point and if you're in the 4 year old room thats part of the deal.

But what should I do with whats left of the candle?  Its a big pillar candle that was given to me so I didn't have time to let it burn all the way down.  Should I throw away whats left of continue lighting it and let it burn away over the next several days?

Indigo_Faerie,

Burning rules for candle magic generally say that you should never use a candle that was already burned for another spell, and I agree with this in some ways.  I think this is a good rule of thumb, but I have been successful with "reusing candles in very specific ways. Here are the general guidelines I use for candle magic:

*I never use a candle I have already burnt for mundane purposes.

*I never use the same candle across spell types.  In other words, if I do reuse a candle, it would be for a spell very similar to the one for which I originally burnt it.  I have purchased some large expensive pillars I have used at separate times for money, job, and prosperity spells.  Although not the same thing, I like using the same materials for complementary spells.  It seems to have a cumulative effect in my magic.  I would not necessarily use the candle for a health or love spell, however, even though they are closely linked with prosperity.  Definitly, I would not use the same materials for a banishing.

*For the most part, I do not consider the spell to be completed until the candle is completely burnt.  Although the orthodox rituals of candle burning requires that the entire candle be burnt at one time for the spell to be complete and successful, I have had plenty of spells work after extinguishing the candle and lighting again for a supplementary ritual and spell.  Remember Indigo, there is still much of the spell to yet be enacted.  I would perform rituals unitl you definitly have the job you need.  With Thursday today, Sunday coming up, and the waxing moon, now is the perfect time.

*Of course, I must additionally mention that in candle magic, it is a terrible faux pas to blow out a candle, as such an extinguishing method is said to be a metaphor for blowing out life.  On this point, I do differ a bit; I have no problem with blowing out a candle if it is the ultimate end of the spell and I will never use the candle for another purpose.  In a sense, I feel that I am sealing the finality of my spell with my breath.  I very, very rarely do this, unless it is a powerful spell I am unable to continue for multiple nights.  I would much rather just let the candle burn.

If you have finished using the candle, whether it be fully melted or blown out, discard the remains by burying it or perhaps leaving it a forested area.  Put it in salt or running water if you wish to dismiss the spell.

I hope this helps you Indigo, and that you find exactly what you need.

Many blessings.

Here is another update.  My boyfriend didn't get that card from the bank but a very close friend offered to lend him a credit card to pay the bills for the 1 month he is in training and he will pay her back once he completes his training.  And he is doing very very well in his training.

His training is to drive a big rig truck for Snieder International.  (Sorry, can't spell it.)  The first day they had them drive they were suppose to just drive around the parking lot with out a load.  They refer to it as bobtailing.  My boyfriend did do well that first day of driving that the instructor took him out on the road and later made him hook up to a trailer.  All the guys he is training with are calling him Super Trucker.   And he is really enjoying it too.

When he was a kid he told me he wanted to be a trucker or a FedEx pilot but his parents talked him out of it.  So maybe this is what he should have been doing all along.  I am beginning to think a lot of the bad luck was because he wasn't following the right path for him.

It is hard having him so far away while he is in school.  And it will be hard having him away on the road for weeks at a time.  But after he has worked for them for 1 or 2 years he can request local runs or apply to companies that will give him local runs.  Plus he will make much more money, even eating out at truck stops than he did where he was working with a lot less stress than he was under.  We should be able to get out of debt and start saving for the future.  So things are really looking up for us.

Very glad to see things have turned around for you both.  Funny how the universe puts on the path we need, even if we don't see it for a while.

Hope you have a lovely and blessed xmas.
