Hi all,
The last period I have been obsessed with Astral travel, dream analysis, dream recall and all dream phenomenon....I read the mugwort make you achieve lucid dreams and perfect dream recall and sometimes astral projection....but i read also that it doesn't have the same effect on everybody it works according to the person development on the dream phenomenon and works on increasing it....for example if you dint dream you will dream with mugwort.....if you don't remember your dreams you will remember them with mugwort....if you don't have conscious dreams you will have with mugwort and so on.

I usually have dreams sometimes vivid and sometimes just fragments and sometimes i don't remember them at all.....I had 3 astral projection 2 i remember and 1  i don't.....recently i have been having a strange occurrence that since i achieved astral projection; the last one that i could not remember, I don't remember my dreams also and i was depressed that either my psychic powers are going down or everytime i access or know information that my spirit guides don't want me to know now yet so they erase my memory because maybe I'm not meant to know this information now or i don't know maybe it is with me.

So I bought mugwort(powdered)....I made a tea like inscribed in my book: 1 teaspoon of mugwot
Then i decide to drink it before bed by 15 mins and i slept but to my shock the next morning I woke up...strangely I had no dreams AT ALL.....But i didn't give up easily although i was disappointed with mugwort for this results but i decided to try it this evening, this time i added anise to the tea for flavoring and clairvoyance, when i return from college before my evening sleep....And again there is nothing no dreams no astral journeys no anything.

I'm really now disappointed with mugwort and disappointed that I thought it would help me as a good reputation dream herb, I would like to try something else but before i do please someone explain to me what just happened is it the herb or is it me?

If someone had some experience i would really like to read them about success or failure with mugwort....If you have any tips or some comments on my experience please tell me so I can have another shot with mugwort or any other herb.

Thanks for reading my long post,
M

Hi Munchi,

Remember that all things take time. Herbs should ALWAYS be discussed with your doctor before beginning to use them, no matter WHAT they are....even the most mundane of herbs can harm you if not used correctly. Mugwort is not a mundane herb....Do not use if pregnant.

Bitter mugwort teas stimulate the secretion of gastric juices to speed up digestion and relieve flatulence and bloating. The essential oil is both antibacterial and antifungal, and may be useful against intestinal parasites.

Mugwort is a very interesting plant deep in historical references. It is often said to promote prophetic dreams. I don't find this to be true all the time. It seems to me that Mugwort intensifies the dreaming process. It all depends on where you are in this process.

If you don't dream, Mugwort will help you to dream, but you may not remember them. If you don't remember your dreams Mugwort will help you to remember them. If you remember your dreams, Mugwort will help you to have conscious dreams. Conscious dreams are dreams where you are aware that you are dreaming and in full control of the situation. If you are consciously dreaming already, the plant will increase the frequency and control.

No matter what level one is dreaming Mugwort will help you to develop your abilities. But beware, for until you become proficient your dreams may, at first, be difficult to deal with. Don’t be discouraged; practice makes perfect. If you desire you might study under an experienced Dreamer or Shaman. Keeping a journal would be advantageous.

None of this implies that the dreams will be pleasant. Some people don't remember their dreams for a reason. Mugwort can cause nightmares and restless dreams leading to lack of sleep or poor quality of sleep. I know of an essential oil company that puts a warning on their Artemisia oil: Caution, may cause nightmares.

Certainly, Mugwort can lead to prophetic dreams if that is what you are into. I do not prefer that course of dream work. It is all up to you. But please check with your doctor first....

I don't know but maybe you are trying to hard. Just take a few days and try not to think about making the dreams come and then maybe they will. Lady E has some wonderful recipes in her cook books for dream tea. Smile

Blessings Bright and Dark,

Read the above quote Munchi.  You didn't even know the herb you were making a tea out of?? That is extremely DANGEROUS....

I support you in trying to research your dreams and I know you are very anxious to discover such things...but FIRST you must remain safe....

PLEASE remain safe...and DO NOT play with herbs in such a manner unless you are very sure about thwat herb you are working with. It is not a simple thing and is a very harmful game you are playing with.

I hope you can become more educated and enlightened with the information here and the wonderful Souls that dwell within our castle walls.....but Munchi, I am worried about you.

Do a search on Wormwood (if that is actually the herb you possess) and then research Mugwort. Then THINK. They are both from the same species, but can have VERY different effects. Both can be dangerous.....

Blessings Bright and Dark.

Lady Elaine has given you excellent advice! You would be very wise to heed it.

One thing that I would like to add, if I may.
This incidence is a very good example of why it is very, very important to know the full Latin Name of an herb. There are may herbs that have multiple common names and that can get confusing. Research the herb you are intending on using thoroughly by it's Latin name. By doing so you are assured that you possess the correct herb. Knowing it's contraindications is of equal importance.

Mugwort.......Artemisia vulgaris
Wormwood......Artemisia absinthium

Although these two belong to the same family, they are completely different plants with completely different attributes and uses. They also have completely different precautions that need to be taken while using them.

Hey Munchi,
I know a lot about herbs and lucid dreams so I'll try to answer your question, but first I need to say that Lady Elaine is right... it is dangerous to drink something if you don't know what it is!
Like Brigga have shown you with the latin names, mugwort and wormwood are family and in light (tea) doses they are safe (and like Lady Elaine said, not use it if pregnant) but some people are more sensitive then others. Me for example, I can take very high doses without any harm, but some people can have hallucinations with those herbs after 2 cups of tea... you know what I try to say?  Smile Herbs are very interesting but if you don't know a lot about it, you have to do some research, to know what you are using.
K now, I think you can take care of yourself so..

Good, mugwort and dreams.
Last year I took a lot mugwort tea and I had a lot lucid dreams, but when I drink mugwort now - I have the same problem like you have. I think there are 2 options why this happens.
1. last year I had dried flowers and dried leaves, most of the time I used the flowers - I don't have any anymore so now I use the dried leaves and it seems that it doesn't work the same.
2. These days I drink a lot melisse tea and this works for me -the best!- to have a lot dream recall and lucid dreams. I believe it works better then mugwort last year. Maybe my body just needs melisse right now - instead of mugwort... maybe the mugwort doesn't work anymore because melisse works better (for now).

Or because of both reasons?  Wink Anyways, if it doesn't work for you right now, it doesn't mean it will never work.. maybe it's just not the right time to use it. Did you already tried melisse tea? That's more safe then mugwort and wormwood, maybe you want to try this instead...  Smile

Good luck!

I tried drinking mugwort tea before bed to enhance my dreams and had little success.  Then I put a sachet of mugwort under by pillow and it worked much better.  Maybe, Munchi, you could try that with whatever herb you use, at least it's safer.

That's indeed a good idea Acasia!
I have a dream pillow with herbs (also with mugwort) and it works very good...
If I can translate the recipe, I will post it in the crafts topic.  Smile

I grow several types of Artemesia, including wormwood, the woman who gave it to me warned that Artemesia absinthe can be a hallucinogen if ingested. It's supposedly an ingredient in distilling the drink absinthe, but the Lousianna people would undoubtedly know more than I do about this. I use the wormwood in sachets with sweet woodruff and a few other things to keep the moths away from my wooly stuff, also, it's tall and pretty in the back of the garden.

I have yet to get any mugwort, does it grow from seed?

Mugwort is easy to grow from seeds.  Plus it expands very well in the garden, but the past few years I've noticed little pop-ups around my place.  The seedheads seem to be blowing in the wind.  You might want to keep that in mind.
I don't think you have to worry about ingesting artemisia absinthe.  It was once used to treat intestinal worms.  I also know that it is harmful if taken in large doses.  You might want to ask someone more educated in that field than what I am.
