Hello, all. I've lived in New York City for nearly six months, but I have no friends to show for it. I have tried Craigslist, but to no avail. Both men and women tend to be flakes and are very, very superficial.

I would love to find a friend or two (or even a teacher) who is interested in or delves in paganism/witchcraft. In spite of all the diversity here, I am seeing a lot of monotony as well.

Is it because I am too impatient? I've heard that it takes three years to establish a circle of friends...and I don't know if I want to wait that long.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

What about Kiel and Jack? I know you feel like you have no friends, but if you do not plan to stay in NYC, it will be hard to establish long-term friendships....

Making friends takes time....and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself and the people you meet. This time of year it is very hard for alot of folks....and making friends is alot harder in a place like New York City. Do you have any aquantences from the place you just moved from? Are you still keeping in touch? I am sure they would love to hear from you at this time of year....

I think I possibly have only 2-3 close friends.....and many, many acquantiecess, we only have a handful our whole life. Please remember not everyone will bear their sole on the first few times you meet them. Would you? And how would you feel if someone did bear their soul to you and tell you everything about them in the first couple of hours after you meet them? Leave themystery in a relationship and let them blossom as they should....being over-anxious and insecure makes people not desire to be close to you.

You have so much going for you, please remember that! You just moved to NYC and got your dream! That's an awful lot to live up to!!

Please let us know how Jack is....I know you were rather concerned about him, and we have heard nothing else since your plea for help in regards to his emotional well-being....

You take care of yourself, and please, remember all good things take time....and effort and understanding on everyone involved.

Thanks, LE! I plan on staying here for a while. I guess I'll just have to wait. Now that I think about it, those who've wanted to meet up were very odd. Very insistent upon meeting in private areas with no one else.

I have a few acquaintances...from Myspace. I meet them from time to time, but they have their own lives to tend to, and I don't want to feel like I'm "intruding," if that makes any sense.

I am always trying to give updates to those I left back home. Everytime I do, I apologize for not being able to respond as much as I'd like. But I will be visiting in January, so I am very excited!

As far as Jack goes...he is really set on dying. His friend told me I could pray, but at this point, there is nothing to be done. I don't have any contact information. I would like to think that what I have to say will influence him not to take his own life, but his friend said don't be too optimistic.
