Pan, The Goat-Foot God
Pan is one of the Horned Gods and his worship originated in Greece.
Primarily a God of nature, woodland and the countryside, with the feet and legs of a goat and a human body, he is often linked to shepherds and goat herds and depicted playing reed-pipes. He is strongly linked to music, seduction, fertility and protection of the land. He is also one of the 'trickster' Gods, so should be treated with the proper respect.
It is best to approach Pan in his own environment. Take a walk in the woodland at the start of dusk, taking with you some offerings, like a little wine, honey and raisins. Find a secluded tree and sit down under it, Take a few deep breaths and say, "Pan, Lord of the woodland and glade, I seek knowledge of you and I bring this wine in honor of you." Pour the wine on the ground. Then say, "Pan, Lord of the meadow and field, I seek understanding of you, and I bring this honey to show my respect of you." Pour the honey on the ground. Now say, "Pan, Lord of the land and all that lives upon it, I seek your Blessing, and I bring this fruit as an offering to you." Close your eyes and meditate on the God and on the land around you, thinking of all the thing you saw on your way there and all the things that surround you. When you feel the presence of Pan, say, "Bless me Great Pan, that I might know you and care for your Land even as you do. Blessed Be." Wait for a sign, give your thanks, then leave quietly.
"Respect the Old Gods and they may feel more inclined to respect you."
