Home Protection Mirror Ritual
Here is a ritual to help protect your home:

Compose an altar:  Have a twelve-inch (or so) round mirror there.

Ring the altar with nine white candles.  

Burn a protective incense (such as sandalwood, frankincense, copal or rosemary).

Beginning with the candle most directly to the right, say these or similar words:

Lunar light protect me!

Repeat as you light each candle until all are glowing.
Now, holding the mirror, invoke an angel, Goddess energy or spirit guide in its lunar aspect with these or similar words:

Great Goddess of the Lunar Light and Mistress of the Seas;
Great Goddess of the Mystic Night and of the Mysteries;
Within this place of candles bright
and with your mirror nigh;
Protect me with your awesome might
while ill vibrations fly!

Standing before the altar, hold the mirror facing the candles so that it reflects their flames.  Keeping the mirror toward the candles, move slowly, clockwise, around the altar, watching the reflected firelight bouncing off your surroundings.

Gradually increase your speed, mentally invoking the white light to protect you.  Move faster and faster; watch the light shattering the air, cleansing it, burning away all negativity and all lines along which the ill energies have traveled into your home.

Charge your home with the protective white light.  Race around the candles until you've felt the atmosphere change, until you feel that your home has been cleansed and is guarded. When finished, stand once again before the image.  Thank the Goddess, Angel or Guide, in any words you wish.  Pinch out the candles one by one, bind them together with white cord and store them in a safe place until (and if) you need to use them again for this same purpose.

I have a very old very large mirror, made from an old window pane, that hangs on the wall just above my t.v.

If I were to set up my altar on top of the t.v. in front of this mirror do you think this would still work?

Nice ritual

Interesting you should post a home protection ritual.  I have a beautiful brass ankh that my mother gave me, that I had charged and hung above my front door as part of my home protection.  It has hung there happily for the past 6 years.  Just last week however, it fell off.  I was down the other end of the house and had wondered what the horrid noise was.  We have a slate floor, so it hit the floor with a crash.  Odd part, the hook it was hanging on is still in perfect shape   .  I may well be paranoid, but I took this as a bad sign and have stepped up my protection work.  Any thoughts or ideas?

Well, you can look at the part of the mirror that was hanging on the hook.  That may have broken or worn away.  That is possible.  Have a look at that, and decide for yourself what is going on.  Sometimes we're paranoid and sometimes we have an inner sense what is going on.  Taking extra steps for protection may not be a bad idea depending upon what you see and feel after digging deeper into what happened.  
Even if you are taking unnecessary steps, what harm does protecting yourself do??

On the Ankh, I'm with marigold, that is a bit strange. I might chalk it up as a warning myself and take care to batten down the hatches a bit harder
at that entrance, check your locks and alarms (if any). If nothing else, it will make you feel better. On a more mundane level, it could be that your foundations are settling, and the ankh fell naturally.

Go with your gut, if you think that your house is trying to tell you something, you may be right.

Well, an update on the house protection question...it seems that at some time during the night on Thursday night, someone tried to get into my baby daughters bedroom.  I had cleaned her window on the inside during the day on Wednesday, and had noticed how dirty they were on the outside and made a note I needed to get around to cleaning them.  On Friday morning when I opened her curtains, there were a few hand prints in the dirt, like someone had tried to push the window open, which was thankfully locked.  Because she has just migrated to the 'big girls bed', she often climbs out of bed and plays with her curtains, and I know from having gone down the street late that night that her curtains were slightly open.  She also falls alseep with a night light on, so whoever this was could see into her room and therefore knew a young child was in there   Scream

I have had the police over, and they were lucky enough to get two prints from the window which are currently being run to see if they come up with a match.  Not much sleep is happening here at night, I tend to jump up and check the slightest noise     Anyway, I have again stepped up the protection, especially for bubs, and hopefully it was just someone looking to break in that changed their mind when they saw a child in the room.
