I am actually celebrating beltane for the first time in my wiccan life.  Unfortunately I don't know how.  There will only be the two of us ( me and my guy)  so we don't need a whole festival but I wanted more than just the fertilization aspect of it.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Sky,

Beltane is a fun time of year to celebrate.  If you are looking to do something special with your boyfriend that is less formal, there are a number of options.

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is go on a picnic.  Pack cheeses, wholesome bread or crackers, and some fruits of the season.  Most berries are in season right now, so there are plenty to choose from.  Try pomegranite juice as a drink.  This is a great way to appreciate and celebrate the fertility of nature.

Another thing I like to do this time of year is plant a spell plant.  Basically, I do a bit of candle magic  by writing a spell on a piece of paper, placing a pillar or votive, and let the candle burn down.  I either dig a hole outside or use a pot.  I put some soil in the pot, then the spell, wax and all, and then plant the plant on top.

There is always a bit of fun in dressing the altar for the season and doing a bit of candle magic.

Take a look in our Book of Shadows, spell book, and recipes section for a few ideas.
