Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is cleansing, antispasmodic, diuretic and laxative. It has been used to relieve cramps and speed the birthing process.
The flowers have decongestant properties and have long been infused as a cure for chest complaints, especially asthma. This is also used to lighten the skin, to reduce scars and remove blemishes.
It is lucky to have Honeysuckle growing near the home, and should it grow over the door it will keep fever and sickness away. It used to be thought that Honeysuckle flowers should not be brought into the house where an unmarried woman lived as they would induce erotic dreams! Certainly the scent of honeysuckle used to be considered an aphrodisiac, particularly when mixed with that of Rose. It was also thought that bringing it indoors would mean a wedding would follow. Honeysuckle is used in spells for protection and money, Place a dried flower and leaf in your purse or wallet to attract money. Honeysuckle grows wild in many places and it is said that if it grows around the home then it will bring money towards you, but planted Honeysuckle does not produce the same result.
Honeysuckle climbs upwards with a clockwise, or Deosil, spiral, while bindweed grows with the converse spiral. Where the two can be trained to meet over the door it is said there will always be love in the house. There is even a folk song which alludes to this.
