Blessing and Consecrating
We usually Bless and Consecrate items before we use them in our Craft and our spells. This dedicates them in our Craft and our spells. This dedicates their use to the Gods and for our magic.
Working tools such as the Athame, Chalice, Censer, etc should be consecrated after cleansing, but before use, whereas the objects we use in spells will be consecrated after the spell has been constructed, eg all the objects added to a charm bag, or the candle engraved.
Probably the most common way of doing this is through the Elements. You will need some incense, a candle, some water and some salt on your Altar. Take your object and pass it through the incense smoke and say,
I do Bless and Consecrate this...(name it) with incense that be be inspired by Air. Blessed Be."
Pass it briefly thought the candle flame, or over it if it's likely to burn, and say,
"I do Bless and Consecrate this...(name it) with flame that it be impassioned by Fire. Blessed Be."
Sprinkle a few drops of water on it and say,
"I do Bless and Consecrate this...(name it) with Water, that it have true feeling. Blessed Be."
Sprinkle it with a little salt and sat,
"I do Bless and Consecrate this...(name it) with salt that it be rooted in earth. Blessed Be."
Now hold your object up over your Altar and, visualizing the Goddess and the God, say,
"I call upon the Goddess and the God to Bless and Consecrate this...(name it) I ask that they guard, guide and protect its use. Blessed Be."
Your object is now ready for use.
