Greetings Everyone,
How is everyone?  Well I went to the Ren Fair and had a blast.  I would have posted sooner but I no sooner got home and got called into work and have worked every night since then so needless to say except for a little bit of time here and there I have been sleeping.  But anyhow.  The Ren Fair was great.  We got there on Sunday when they opened.  And we got to see a lot of the shows.  I got serenaded by two gentleman that were doing a comedy skit which was very funny.  The dancing was great.  I found this beautiful robe that even though it was out of my price range it gave me inspiration to make my own.  So I guess it is time to bust out my sewing machine and have my mother help me make one.  I did find two pentacles that I thought were beautiful.  I got home though and noticed the one was a six pointed star.  I'm not sure what that means but I bought it thinking it was five pointed.  So I figure it came home with me for a reason.  I also found a beautiful purple amethyst that I had to have.  Then right as we were leaving ai noticed this shop that I had not been into yet.  It was a silver and brass shop and I found this beautiful pentacle headdress that was just in my price range.  I love that one.  I will definatley be wearing that when I do ritual work and other magickal stuff.  So all in all I had a blast.  I will hush for now.  I will write more later.  I hope everyone is having a great day.

Bright Blessings

Sounds like Ren was awesome for your spiraling.

All you goodies sound cool.

It's funny how things pick us to take them home, even when we are not even totally sure of them, like your six pointer.

HI spiraling,

I actually use the six-pointed star in rituals as opposed to a penticle.  There are two types, and they go by many names.  To the Jews, the star is called the Star of David.  It represents many things on many levels.  It is a symbol of ancient nationalism and the ancient religion, although no one knows the exact origin.

In Islam and Kabbalism, it is known as the Seal of Solomon. The Seal was inscribed with the name of God, and consequently, held power.

The hexagram can be found both in far eastern mandalas and mystical branches of Judiasm representing the joining of the Divine masculine and feminine.  The triangle is symbolic of masculinty and the upside down triangle represents feminity.  Combined, they represent to Divine whole.

I like the symbol for rituals because it is a more complete depiction of the components of the Universe to me personally.  So, for example, with the pentacle, each point represents fire, water, air, earth, and spirit is the center. I have use the six-pointed star, especially when I was beginning and needed more structure than I require now, to mean that each point represent fire, earth, water, air, energy, and spirit.  My understanding of magic is more sophisticated now, however, so I rarely use this anymore.  I do still use it as a focus for candle magic.  The triangle is the most stable of shapes.  The combination of two means whatever you place in the center stays focused to your will and protected from outside influence -- similar to casting a circle.

It is a powerul symbol, and I am sure you will have success in using it.

Spiraling sounds like you have quite a positive experience at the Ren Fair! If you don't mind, could you post a picture of your headdress? I just completed a three-strand moonstone headdress and would love to see what the one you came across looks like!

Stacy your descriptions were very informative, as I have a pendant with the six pointed star (along with a bunch of other markings I would love to find an interpreter for) and a pagan-ish blessing on the back, so that always confused me but not so much after your explanation.  With the pentacle, though, I was under the impression that the fifth point on the star was spirit. If spirit remains in the center, what would the fifth point represent? I'd love to find out more about this.

Thanks for sharing your adventure with us Spiraling! You've sparked quite an interesting and informative conversation!!

Spiraling what is your location because i just got done doing two weekends at a ren fair was it at a place called scarey acres? if it is and if you went to a ground combat demenstation then you problably seen me there. and if it was the same ren fair yes it was pretty good. although i am physicaly battered and bruised from all the fighting i did i loved it i guess that is why i still do the fighting demonstations.
ren fair is usualy a good place it find good items to use and claim as your own. Me i found a nice bastard sword that will fit nicely with my ritual gear. Just remember to purify the items you buy there before you use them so many different people touch them and there for transfer there energy to them it could hinder you and the item on fully becoming yours.  good luck and enjoy your findings.

Hi Real_Eyez,

I was listing the pentacle order randomy, and the 5th point usually is spirit, so you're absoolutely correct.  If you have some symbols you are uncertain about, feel free to show us, and I'll offer what explaination I can.

Greetings Everyone,
How is everyone today?  Thank you for the insight on the six pointed star.  It was very helpful and really explained why it came home with me especially with some things that are going on in my life right now.  I will take a picture of the headdress and post it on here as soon as I can.  I hope everyone has a great day.  Again thank you for the explanation and the help.  I hope everyone is having a great day.

Bright Blessings
