So I made this headdress...

Moonstone Headdress to honor the Triple Goddess:
Strand 1 (Maiden): Moonstone, blue Swarovsky crystals, pink glass, hematite, aveturine
Strand 2 (Mother): Moonstone, amethyst, glass, labradorite, sterling silver, garnet, black and red Swarovski, clear crystal
Strand 3 (Crone):  Moonstone, black and smokey Swarovski, crystal prisms, black glass, smokey quartz, mother of pearl
Center Moon: Swarovsky Crystal
Clasp: Sterling silver, featuring a progressively larger triple-link rhinestone charm

Each strand has glass moons at the end surrounded by appropriate colored beads designating the moon phases corresponding with the strand.

Pillows are more my thing, but every once in a while I'll bead, usually the motivation of something other than my normal self. I'd like to thank my friend Kat from KatFaerie Designs for all her help and support in the making of my new ceremonial headdress. Ooh how it glows in the night light...

lol it's cool the message was not lost.

took it out last night for initiation. WHOA MAMA!! It is, in every sense of the world, E L E C T R I F Y I N G, even under the new moon. I wouldn't have been able to keep it on had I not received strong and unmistakable messages of assured protection preparing for this. I feel like I'm finally in line for the big roller coaster  

Awesome Phoenix! ^___^  I'm happy the headdress is working for ya.  Its extremely prettiful. If you don't mind my asking. How did you make it?  The process I mean?  That looks like something I'd enjoy trying my hand at.

I used a bead board (a board with several different tracks for designing multiple stranded jewelry) to kind of work out the design symmetry. Like I mentioned before, ideas for the types of beads to use in each strand came from researching the information within and linked to this site.

The beads are strung on jewelry wire, to hold it's shape better on the head than jewelry line. Then I used a coil spring to hold the ends of the strands while I was beading, completing one strand at a time before beginning the next. Of course each strand was done and redone because I'm ridiculously anal when it comes to arrangement and organization. But when it was completed to satisfaction, I knew it was time to stop redoing it - the ideas I had could be saved for other headdresses!

My friend finished off the ends for me, using sterling silver cones to cover the filler seed beads at the end of each strand, then wrapping the ends together since it fits on the head and doesn't need a clasp to open like a necklace would. That's about it...it's pretty easy and entirely doable, give it a shot!

Again, an awesome piece!

(LOL about the roller coaster ride line! Be careful about wanting in this line cause once they buckle yuor ass in, they don't stop it for nothin'!)
