I guess this would be a question for Battery.  I have picked out a number of avatars from the gallery, but they never show up on my posts.  They used to, way back when the site was slower, but after it was speeded up, my avatar didn't work anymore.  I use Firefox now, because I have a really old Mac, and I can't get in with Explorer any more, so maybe my old computer is the problem?

I would assume you are forgetting to tell it to save, after you pick the avatar.

ok guilty here on that one!!!

I got the avatar, but then after it returned me to my profile page, I forgot to hit the submit button on that page to change the overall changes to my profile, therefore, no new avatar!!!

Rainbells, after you choose your avatar, scroll down to the bottom of the page after it refreshes and hit "Save"...alot of us have been guilty of that.... Can't wait to see what you picked!

Duh............   Thanks, Battery.   I thought all I had to do was hit "Select avatar"

np, I assume most of us have made that exact same mistake.

I just did that one today.  It took me like 10 minutes to figure out what I did wrong lol.
